FYI Justice For All's cases are independent of each other.

Trials And Tribulations' cases are supposed to intertwine, and its final case is supposed to tie in somehow with the first two games in the series. If you can stand having the first case's dialogue constantly interrupted by this:

You should be good to go.

Well if you really get into the series, all of the games have been released officially in English so far, except for one. But you can play that one fan translated now.

Please let us know how your experience with Justice For All fairs.

First, that's super impressive re: your cache of eShop titles. I have enjoyed your reviews and also purchased both Gunman Clive titles (and they are fantastic in their aesthetic and controls).

re: Game Gear. I've been thinking about this also as I was a big Game Gear guy back in the day (it was our only system outside a C64 and Apple IIgs) and I still have my stuff for it but something about save stats and current tech makes playing those games sound better. Then again, the Sonic titles (which were top of my mind) are spread over the Sonic Mega Collection+ and Sonic Gems Collection.

Still, portable + easy saving with restore points has me intrigued.

Definitely. Sounds like it'll be interesting if nothing else

I'm a pretty big Sega fan and after purchasing 3 Game Gears a couple years ago I finally found one that works which was the third one (yeah you can replace the caps but it's time-consuming IMO). It pains me to say that I'd probably argue it's one of the last platforms I would recommend someone get into. The library is just......ehh. I love the Shinobi games more than one should, but other than that I couldn't even remember another game I HAD to have other than Solitaire Poker, which was a completely personal want (I don't know why, but loved the game as a kid).

At that point I started remembering my experience with the Game Gear. I loved the games mentioned above, I had George Foreman Boxing which was lackluster even at the time........and I don't think I could think of any other memories I had with the Game Gear or even games I might've missed out on. I now have about 20 or so games for it but almost none of them are worth even mentioning here. Vampire: The Masquerade is okay, but just okay. Other than that I couldn't even tell you what I have for the system. I pull it out a few times a year to play a little Shinobi. That's about it. I guess one plus side is that it won't cost you much to collect for it. Nothing you'll come across normally will be priced at more than a few bucks, and it might be one of the few platforms left that everyone and their mother isn't collecting and gobbling up everything in sight.

TL;DR My advice for a GG newbie would be to buy a few games on the eShop and quit while you're ahead, and I was a Sega fan boy in the late '80s, early '90s.

Please don't misunderstand me. I only have five eShop games on my 3DS. I haven't yet downloaded any of the games for the 3DS virtual console because I own the vast majority of them in their original form. (For example, I have a Legend of Zelda: The Oracle of Seasons cart for my Gameboy Color.)

I was interested in the Game Gear titles, however, because I don't (and probably never will) own a Game Gear. I am sure that I am missing out on at least a few quality titles, however, and I will certainly be picking up the Game Gear Shinobi games.

Ah gotcha, of course.

re: Shinobi - the first game gear game is on the eShop actually. And then the 3D Shinobi III (Genesis) title.

What is cool about the GG (and GBC, dunno about others) is that when you choose to play them in native resolution, it's puts a GG handheld background around the game play area. Nice touch.

Should add GGs are unreliable these days so this is a great way to experience the games on a handheld IMO.

I feel kind of bad. Between finding a GBC 2 Sunday's ago and getting a pile of games for it, then getting Pin Bot yesterday I still haven't even taken the wrap off Xenoblade Chronicles nor have I touched Ocarina of Time or Shin Megami Tensei in weeks. Throw Lego into the mix when the mood hits and I've just unintentionally lost interest which is bad.

I hope to get started on it here sooner or later, same with FF Type 0 I've had over a month. :\

I did a quick search before buying and it seems like a lot of people think the second one is the worst one oddly enough. We'll see. They're fun but flawed it seems, but flawed unnecessarily for the most part I think.

I agree about everything not having to be a murder trial too. More variety in the type of cases lends itself more to trying to tie them all in together at the end if you want too, so each game has some cohesion and more of a larger plot line.
I have to agree that the second one is the worst one, though personally I liked Apollo Justice even less, just because of the radical cast change and me never warming up to Apollo as a protagonist (Athena on the other hand, who is introduced in AA 5 I really liked).

I'm on the fence wether the 3rd or 5th game is the best in the series, but I'd check them all out if I were you. And yeah, you could skip the second game if you wanted to, the only case that plays any important role in the overarcing plot is the second one.

And come on, it wouldn't be "interesting' if it wasn't a murder trial. All big court dramas are about murder mysteries. And what you probably don't know, is that the series is a parody of the Japanese legal system, where people are forced into confessing that they committed a murder crime (google it, the escapist made an article on it, but it's not working right now :/)

I strongly disagree with this. You can have drama and surprises in all sorts of situations that don't require a dead body.
