RPG Progress Report
Re: RPG Progress Report
Just got the Mystic Key in FF PSP after waking the Prince of Elfheim. Time to go open up all those locked doors!

Instead of casting Bahamut, you should focus on using Syldra/Hydra with an air knife equipped. Air knife boosts the damage it does, making it roughly as powerful as Bahamut for half the cost.Melek-Ric wrote:Yeah, I actually like !Time's Meteor more than !Summon's Bahamut because it uses less MP while still dealing out great damage. Comet is good earlier in the game too. Quick can save your butt in an instant and Return along with Teleport can save you much headache. !Blue's Mighty Guard diminishes some of those !Time protection buffs later though.Xeogred wrote:That's pretty true. Wasn't the spell... Meteo in the game? I recall Time having two or three attack spells that were brutal. That said... yeah a Time/Summoner and Time/White setup would be equally crazy. I'm all about the buffs in RPG's thesedays, so I loved the Time abilities.

I do so love the remake of FFIII. The PSP version has an option to switch between the famicom and DS soundtracks. Which is great, because as good as the remake's soundtrack is, the famicom soundtrack is something special: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dPEtcuXclwXeogred wrote:What was it... the ultimate-real-final dungeon was composed of three different final dungeons when you had to traverse another dungeon to even get to the main final dungeon(s). There was at least 4-5 linked together in the final stretch, I recall timing myself and put in like 10 hours worth on this final bit alone. Dungeon crawler to the bone. Madness is an understatement.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Famicom FFIII is hard as nuts. I'm hoping the DS version is the same. I love difficult RPGs.
I would love to see FFIII get the PSP-esque remake treatment, the DS games still don't really interest me much because of the looks.
Now that I actually have the famicom cartridge, I'll probably give it a go at some point, but it scares me. It seems substantially more difficult than the remake. I almost gave up on beating the DS version because of that final dungeon and insane boss rush/final boss, but eventually managed it after putting the game aside for a year or so. In trying out the famicom version, I got stomped in the first real dungeon, and ran away from the game screaming.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Famicom version is the only version of the game I have beaten so maybe I'll have an easier time with the DS port.
Re: RPG Progress Report
I too took some time off once I reached the final area of the DS remake. A couple months I think.pierrot wrote:

Awesome, I'll try it out.alienjesus wrote:Instead of casting Bahamut, you should focus on using Syldra/Hydra with an air knife equipped. I've got about 9 hours into Conception II (Vita) and I'm still enjoying it. I think it's a good time and worth playing and I don't care if I'm the only dude on the internet saying so.

This one looked interesting to me. How's the music? I can't handle 40 hours of J-pop lol.Exhuminator wrote:I've got about 9 hours into Conception II (Vita) and I'm still enjoying it. I think it's a good time and worth playing and I don't care if I'm the only dude on the internet saying so.

Upbeat electronica, I enjoy it. A few choice cuts:Jagosaurus wrote:This one looked interesting to me. How's the music? I can't handle 40 hours of J-pop lol.
(this one gets stuck in my head)
Of all the tracks I've heard in the game (quite a few so far), only 2 would I say had enough vocals to be classified as "J-pop".

Re: RPG Progress Report
I've made it to England in Lionheart, but things have been progressing slowly, as I just haven't been spending much time playing the game. It's time I try to speed things up though, as the summer game challenge is coming, along with the next Together RPG!
