So I've accepted that if I don't want my house to turn into a massive sty then I just need to fork over the cash to get it cleaned biweekly.
I enjoy cleaning because it provides immediate gratification. Stuff is dirty, add elbow grease, stuff is clean.
I'd say my Sister's house is roughly between 4,000 to 4,500 sq. ft., and she has a team of Mexican women come in biweekly, and they are like a swat team when it comes to efficiency. No joke, I believe they spend maybe an hour in the joint before place is spotless. Pretty sure they do all the dishes, laundry and ironing as well. It's amazing how quickly the team works.
I do the cleaning, my wife is the chemist. Not sure if she's ever bought a cleaning solution since we bought our home. "Bring me some corn starch, baking soda, rubbing alcohol, and white vinegar" and she makes some foul smelling concoction that could probably remove spray paint off cement (I'm sure there are more ingredients to her potions). Glass cleaner, wood polisher, bathroom grime remover, she knows what she's doing when it comes to her "solutions". Saves us some scratch too.
