Dragon Quest II just blew up in scale after getting the boat. I swear I've been everywhere but the two places I need to go to get the keys I need. No one wants to tell me where they are: 'It's a mystery to everyone.' Bullshit, Mr. NPC! You know; I know you know. =_=

I've been trying to hold off on checking a map--which this game sorely need. I might cave pretty soon. My gut feeling tells me the gold key is in the town on the island just out of reach from the traveler's gate in Louresha Castle, but I can't for the life of me find that island.

I'm not big on walkthroughs but I normally find an over world map with cities listed for RPGs. Many of them came with them anyway. Makes your life much easier lol.

My only problem is that sometimes maps might give away spoilers.

Yeah, not all maps are created equally. I was thinking of seeing if there's something around the interwebs about whether there was a map with Dragon Warrior 2 or Dragon Quest 1 & 2. Really, an overworld map, without town names (or even locations) would probably be all the help I really need.

Got a lot of gaming done over the weekend, but made very little progress on my list. Got Mega Man ready to go and played a little.

I have decided that I'm going to use the Continue feature in Super Mario Bros. I was restarting the entire game every time I lost all my lives. The problem is that I lose almost (if not) all my lives on World 5. If the Hammer Brothers don't get me, Bullet Bills or those damn springs do. I think the only thing I'm losing by skipping the first few Worlds is my score. What am I gaining? My sanity...

So that's it. To keep from going bat-shit crazy and so that I can actually finish my list, I'm breaking my original rule of not using continues. For this being a timeless classic, I'm really bad at this game.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the original game come with an overworld map of .sorts? At the very least that could be handy

Yeah, there's a small overworld map on the inside cover of Dragon Warrior II for the NES. I ended up just looking at a map that didn't list place names, and found the island I was looking for. I don't know how I missed it, because I'd been by the area it was in a bagillion times. My gut was right that it would have my gold key, though. I also stumbled upon the sunken treasure out of sheer, dumb-ass-luck.

Update:

Prime 3: Cleared out the main parts of the planet Bryyo and destroyed the Leviathan seed there. Now I'm off to the 2nd planet - Elysia. From my understanding there is another planet after that, so I'm maybe a third of the way through?

Loco Roco: Played through to about world 2-5. It's OK so far. I'm not sure how it's going to do much to add anything new throughout the game (or the series in general. There are three of these?) and I worry any challenge they try to add could end up being really annoying due to the slightly inaccurate controls.

I plan to work through these two games until they're beaten. After Prime 3 I plan to start up Metal Gear Solid as my console title. I'll be following up Loco Roco with the Final Fantasy V Four Job Fiesta event, so I imagine FF7 will be one of the last games I get to on this years list.
