I'm gonna cheat and call EspGaluda good. Beat the last boss on a credit, but died out again on the TLB. I actually cleared the 5th boss with 3 lives, by far the best i've ever done, in fact got through the first 4 stages w/nay a hit. I usually get through 1-3 unscathed, but very rarely stage 4.

At any rate, was feeling really good after beating the stage 5 boss, then brief intermission before the run-up to the TLB, lost 2 lives on the darned pixies - they are tough, but I usually navigate them just fine. Then, did well on the TLB and got to his last form, using my bomb/shield to exhaustion, but just couldn't pull through. I immediately fired it back up and played another run, took a credit and a half (2 lives on 2nd credit) to get through it. Not my ideal and I may come back to it, but i've sunk 12 hours into this the past 2 weeks and time to get at something else for a bit.

Here's the shot from my first run of the night where I was about 10% of the TLB away from the ALL :/

be proud Mike. A 1CC is nothing to sneeze at. Just making it thru most CAVE games on less than "a dollar" is awesome. Besides, 'beating' the game is totally different than when we play for score. And I'm sure you're far better at that than anyone on this site with Galuda right now. :slowclap:

I feel pretty overpowered though, even bosses fall to me pretty much effortlessly now.

I'm level 10, just entering Mt. Seko.

Also, this game is addicting.
Which version - SNES, Genesis, Turbo CD, PS2?

There is a level cap in Ys games - things will get tough.

Thanks, dude. Both Dunp and Skate have also made it to 5-2, but afaik, no one on racket has a recorded ALL. There are nearly 50 recorded ALL's on shmups forums, however.

Genesis version.

Speaking of a level cap, I think I'm nearly there. I'm now level 11, and my next level up comes at 65,535 exp. That sounds like a maximum.

I'm about to continue right now, just starting Valestine.

Nah, menu actions. Hate 'em. I have the updated version for the PS2. Just need the PS1 version of IV to round out the numbered series. I don't quite prefer the PS1 Dragon Quest engine, though, so I agree: SFC version of IV would have been nice considering how good III looks.

I think I'm pretty much at the end of Dragon Quest. None of the stupid old geezers will give me any hints about where the damn sword is, so next time I pick it up, I'll probably just see how badly I get worked over by the Dragon Lord before I give up and grind for the last magic spell; which I'm assuming is gigaspark or something.

Ys 3 is finished!

1. Demon's Crest - SNES
2. Sonic Pocket Adventure - NGPC
3. Harvest Moon GBC - GBC
4. Panzer Dragoon - Saturn
5. Shadowrun - Genesis
6. Chrono Cross - PS1
7. Ys 3: Wanderers from Ys - Genesis Complete
8. Deus Ex - PC
9. Metal Slug 2 - PSN
10.Golden Axe 3 - Genesis

And this

is no freaking joke.

The last two dungeons, Castle Valestine and Demanicus Island, really throw down the gauntlet on you. Regular enemies hit like a truck even with the best armor, and the bosses are no different. Some are much tougher than others though. The fire breathing wolf in particular was a pain in the ass.

The final boss, Demanicus, was the hardest though, no question. He killed me several times before I managed to beat him, and even with the power ring it took forever to whittle down his health. It also took 3 whole bars of my own health to survive the fight: A full bar walking in, one herb, and the necklace, an automatic restore item. Very cool battle though, and again, awesome music.

Ys 3 is short, but oh so sweet. I'm really happy with it.

So, that's one down. I haven't decided what I'll tackle next. Probably Golden Axe 3 or Metal Slug 2.

Good thing Ys 3 lets you saved anywhere. Towards the end of the game I saved about every minute or so - reloaded the save as soon as I was damaged.

The final boss is hard as hell - but be thankful you were playing on Genesis and not SNES!

Huge Doom fan. So if switch around my list & add PS1 Doom, should I could it as 2 games?
... considering it is really a compilation of Ultimate Doom & Doom II.

59 stages and the Ultimate Doom does end, prompting you to start the second game. I'm thinking 2. Thoughts?
