To make you feel better, the SNES version is not as difficult as the PC one. But they added seven more stages, and boss fights. And since I know how much you love platformers... Have fun!
Truthfully, the game becomes infinitely easier once you figure out the rhythm to sword fighting. So I suggest learning that early on. It still wont make hell fun.
DAMN YOU, DS!
Isn't there a two hour real time time limit on this game too?

Okay. My list isn't meant to be retro at all. More of a wish list I've been putting off for various reason. I've been in major RPG mode since November '12 so it'll be nice to have some mindless fun with some on the list below:
1. Golden Sun Dark Dawn (DS) 2. Phantasy Star IV (Genesis Collection - PS2) 3. Return to Castle Wolfenstein (PS2) 4. Kill Zone (PS2) 5. Panzer Dragoon (Saturn) 6. Resident Evil Revelations (3DS) 7. D (Saturn port) 8. TBD - open slot 9.TBD - open slot 10. TBD - open slot
Panzer Dragoon really handed it to me in the last fewl levels. Might have to use level select input code but sticking to this one!
I'm a huge Wolf3D (PC & Jaguar port) fan and never played RTC Wolfenstein, should be fun.
I'm also 2/3 through PSIV, took a break. Need to finish! Long RPG.
Leaving slots 8-10 open because I want to be able to have a few spontaneous playthroughs of the dozens of titles I am considering. I really missed out on the PS2 library so I could do 10 from there alone. Also, been addicted to DS/3DS lately and might pick up some handheld titles.
Okay. Finalizing my list. Decided fill my TBD slots. More likely to complete 10 if I have a list to stick to.
Again, not meant to be retro or classics at all. Mostly mindless fun needed after my time consuming RPG binge lately.
Final List - No Particular Order: 1. Golden Sun Dark Dawn (DS) 2. Phantasy Star IV (Genesis Collection - PS2) 3. Return to Castle Wolfenstein (PS2) 4. Killzone (PS2) 5. Black (PS2) 6. Area 51 (PS2) 7. Clockwork Knight 2 (Saturn) 8. Panzer Dragoon (Saturn) 9. D (Saturn) 10. Resident Evil Revelation (3DS)
Notes: Really enjoyed CWK1, looking forward to sequel. Was planning on playing RE Revelations & D in October. Bumped them up. Gives me an excuse to find more Halloween games!
You'll also noticed I missed out on some common PS2 FPS mainstays (before FPS franchise releases became an annual event). Only a decade behind . Killzone & Black look amazing visually. Really pushing the hardware. I'll be playing KZ split screen multiplayer with buddies as well. Looking forward to it.

I must protest!
Nectaris: Military Madness (PS1) is an upgraded version of Military Madness (TG16), and it includes an entirely new campaign in addition to all of the maps from the TG16 original. Military Madness (TG16) was listed as the 48th greatest game of all time in EGM #100, and it was listed as the 163rd greatest game of its time in EGM #200.
Decathlete (SAT) was listed as the 95th greatest game of all time in EGM #100, and it was listed as the 100th greatest game of all time in EGM #150.
Accordingly, I both games were highly regarded and could very well be deemed "classics" at this point.
dsheinem wrote:BUT I'd also like to see people use this challenge to play classics they'd never otherwise touch, genres they ignore, etc. Too many use it solely as a way to tackle a backlog of things they like anyway or games in a series they like. Push yourself, folks!
I have made serious attempts at every game on my list in the past, and I just have not made it through any of them. (I am trying to play through every game listed among the the "greatest" in EGM 100, 150, and 200.) I can assure you...at least half of the games on my list are going to require a serious push!
1. Sonic 1 (Gen) 2. Sonic 2 (Gen) 3. Phantasy Star II (Gen) 4. Metal Gear Solid 2 (PS2) 5. Fire Emblem (GBA) 6. Metroid Prime (GCN) 7. Wind Waker (GCN) 8. Resident Evil (GCN) 9. Grandia II (Dreamcast) 10. Tomb Raider (PS1)
Played a few of these quite a lot, but never completed them and it is really bothering me. Got a few more RPG's up me sleeve if I get through all of these.........here's to dreaming
Need Hexyz Force and Class of Heroes 2 for a complete PSP RPG Set.....let me know your price!!!!
Here's my list, not necessarily in the order I will play them.
1. Dark Souls (PC) 2. NARC (NES) 3. Phantasy Star (Master System) 4. Target Earth (Genesis) 5. Panzer Dragoon (Saturn) 6. Mega Man X (SNES) 7. Fantasy Zone (Saturn) 8. Drakan: The Ancient’s Gates (PS2) 9. Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) 10. Chrono Trigger (SNES)
Chose some games I wanted to play, and some random games.
I have two things to say to everyone regarding dsheinem's complaints and the classics debate!
First of all, here is Snickerd00dle's (as in the man himself) list from the 2011 Summer challenge.
Note the bold. Fable and Fallout were both still new enough to be 60 bucks. Good games (Yes, even Fable, screw anyone who doesn't like it! You heard me!) but not classics.
Donkey Kong Country Tomba Strider 2 Fallout New Vegas Yoshi's Story Super Mario RPG Fable III Super Metroid Secret of Mana Banjo Kazooie
Second of all:
