I found Shinobi Legions very difficult, but it does actually give you some decent moves to work with, between the run and running slash and the rolling slash, as well as the block. That said, yeah, it is something of a step back from Shinobi 3. It feels like it was very much their intent to make a sequel to Revenge of Shinobi, and in that they succeeded, IMO.

I swear by this game. I love it and I personally felt this was one of the top in the series. It was beautiful how they did the graphics and the cut-scenes and story were great. Maby by todays standards people would say it was corney but if you look at fmv games back in the day or hell even resident evil with live actors this was pretty top notch and I think worked flawlessly

The only games that ever looked good with digitized actors were the original 3 Mortal Kombat games.

Ya but honestly I thought legions look really good. And it was so much fun For me it showed off that era of gameing from the sega cd to earley saturn which was weird but fantastic and now with a world ruled by action online shooters I really enjoy going back playing games like this that we will never see againe

That what I think i love most about every Saturn game I play well most of them is i feel Like Im playing something very unique and special that fits me yet most gamer's nnow a day would not even give a second look which just tells me how much I don't have in common with the current world of gamer's.

Except of course some of the fine people on this site who will put out 100 plus for Popful mail. which deserves it. But ill wait till i find one at a better price. I love the Sega cd so much but have not even started on my collection of games i want yet.

The recent Retro Core video showcases a really neat-looking platformer called Tryrush Deppy. It looks very colorful and cute!

Tryrusy Deppy does fetch a pretty penny.

My Saturn needs more Variety all I'm playing now are fighters and shmups on it... time for a few platformers.

sorry to resurrect this old awkward thread but i have discovered a relatively unknown saturn 3d platformer, Ninpen Manmaru. Apparently not many people have heard of this one, its a japan exclusive and isn't too expensive i got mine for around 2000 yens or about $20. Here is some gameplay footage.

I really enjoy the CWK games. There's a great style to them & I like the main character, Pepper.

I've been meaning to pick up Astal for years.

Shinobi: Legions has to be my favorite. I love the dark, graphical style to the gameplay. It looks similar to the Mortal Kombat arcade games. The live-action cutscenes are awesome! Very reminiscent of the 80s straight-to-video kung-fu movies I ate up as a kid. Any Shinobi fan will love this title.

Astal is another favorite of mine on Saturn. It didn't break down any walls in 2D platforming gameplay or anything. But it was still a solidly designed 2D platformer that was fun to play. And it is absolutely gorgeous to look at. The graphics are amazing on this one and proves what a 2D powerhouse the Saturn really is.

Bug! is a game that I hear a lot of people trash in the gaming community. I can't say it's a masterpiece or anything, but I thought it was fun. The 2.5D gameplay is kind of unique and makes for some fun gameplay, IMO.

Some games I haven't played on Saturn, but have played the PS1 versions are Gex, Castlevania: SotN, Mega Man 8, and Metal Slug X. If the Saturn versions are good ports, then those are excellent games.
