Amazing Sega Saturn platformers
Ok so I always see stuff on alot of amazeing games for saturn but don't here a ton about platformers i just wanted to state that clockwork knight 1,2 bug 2,pandamonium,mr bones, astal were freaking amazeing games!!
Mr. bones was so original and funny and i have never played a game like it,for the life of me i don't know why there was not a 2ed one but i guess maby the people did not all get a taste of it but anyone who owns a saturn should 100% own and play it and as for clockwork knight and astal they are amazeing! astal is my fav platformer on the system and period and pandamonium sure it was out for psx also but for me its way more enjoyable playing it on a sega saturn not that i did not love the psx but dreamcast and saturn hold a very special place in my heart.
just a random rant i felt like writeing before i go to bed lol

Re: Amazeing saturn platformers
I missed almost all of these at the time because I was all platformed out after the MS and MD, but these are all decent games.
There is also Sonic Jam, SotN and Shinobi Legions but there really arent that many platforming games for the Saturn.

Re: Amazeing saturn platformers
Probably the single biggest reason Saturn failed. People were in love with 3D platformers in the mid 90s through the early 2000s, and Saturn failed to deliver those for the most part. Specifically, they failed to deliver Sonic Xtreme.Curlypaul wrote:I missed almost all of these at the time because I was all platformed out after the MS and MD, but these are all decent games.

Amazing does not have an 'e' in it, OP.
The Saturn was a 2D work horse. As a die hard Megaman fan, I have made a point of tracking down X4 and 8 for it. In general, both are superior on the Saturn to the PSX version. More sprites, more fluid motion, and (in the case of Megaman
extra content.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I'm sorry, but your post was incredibly hard to read.dreamcast4ever83 wrote:Ok so I always see stuff on alot of amazeing games for saturn but don't here a ton about platformers i just wanted to state that clockwork knight 1,2 bug 2,pandamonium,mr bones, astal were freaking amazeing games!!

Anyways, the Saturn pretty much sucks for platformers. The Clockwork Knight and Bug games are okay I guess. Astal is pretty rockin but I'm not sure I'd classify it strictly as a platformer. Mr. Bones (of course IMO), is absolutely horrible and is way overrated among Saturn gamers. I find it to be almost unplayably bad. It oozes style though.
There's Rayman and the Mega Man games, however they're much cheaper and easier to find on the PlayStation.
Older. Not wiser.
Re: Amazeing saturn platformers
I really enjoyed Silhouette Mirage and Keio Flying Squadron 2.
I was pretty dissapointed in the Saturn port of SotN. All the graphical perfection was horribly scaled and dithered, and the slowdown was horrible. At least they gave you running boots.

Re: Amazeing saturn platformers
I guess everyone is entitled to there opinion but honestly saying Mr bones sucked? There,s nothing like it period I'm betting u did not play the whole game and if u did well that's sad.
I expect better from people on this sight in a Saturn forum and astal not a platformer? It's exactly a platformer and perfect. Saturn had a bunch of fantastic platformers.
U sound kinda like a non Saturn taker that or ur bias towards one thing.Anyways id hope we could keep it positive here of all places. I don't care so much if its not ur bag but comeing here just to say bad things ugh.
