S video is not RGB. S vid is a nice upgrade over composite but it isn't RGB over SCART.

Also, s vid was NOT widespread in 1991. It was only on high end monitors. I had only laid eyes on it once by 1995. My uncle had a nice Sony projection big screen TV & a high end laser disc player with S vid output. He was an AV nut.

My family didn't get a TV with S vid until 2000. I personally didn't get one until 2005. My TV before that (got it in roughly '93) didn't even have composite! RF only.

A lot of gamers first experience with S video was the Dreamcast as it started becoming common place among most TV sets. I've heard a few ppl state that. That makes the DC VGA output that much more ahead of its time!

S-video looks almost as good as a SCART, but it's definitely not quite as good. SCART has an undeniable edge in video quality.

Scart is slightly better as the S-vid only has luminance/colour separation rather than RGB, the funny thing is how HD has changed our whole concept of what is good quality- as we are so used to modern displays and when you start getting involved with CRT's again you expect the best picture quality. I can remember in 1992 having a 14" trinitron and believing it had the most amazing picture through scart, not knowing at the time RGB was only on 25" and above sets- so I had been watching composite the whole time!! Now I'm using a larger screen with RGB/scart and it does look awesome but I can't help getting fussy over a tiny bit of blur or the screen settings not quite right, that's part of the fun of analogue I suppose.

edit* I took the RF amp out of my pal SNES so I had space for the mod switches on the back!

Was SCART on most TVs across the pond in '91? Seems like we got S video common place 5 to 10 years behind.

RGB over here was only really an option via SCART or BNC on high end CCTV & Medical monitors.

Kind of depends, since there'd really be two factors at play there.

SCART itself is a standard for a connector, which was basically a given for EU equipment (it was required in some countries). So, yeah, far, far more common, starting the late 70s/early 80s.

The catch is that SCART doesn't automatically mean that a device does anything better than composite video and mono audio. You can have cables without the required pins for RGB/etc, or devices that aren't capable of utilizing them in the first place.

Having the RGB standard built in might have encouraged its use more, but a lower end TV that was only wired for composite in NTSC land could just as well have composite-only SCART in Europe. So I'd imagine the actual television support probably paralleled S-Video and component adoption elsewhere, for the most part.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they just do it like a season pass with them unlocking as they release.

Gamestop description:
The Telltale Series comes to retail as a Season Pass Disc, and grants access to the remaining four episodes in the season as they become available to download.

RGB over here was only really an option via SCART or BNC on high end CCTV & Medical monitors.
Here in the UK 1992 Scart was on almost everything except some portable TVs, although many people carried on using the RF socket- similar to all those people who bought HD TV's and watched them in SD.
