Re: question for a worried dreamcast owner.

Wiggle the end that connects to the Dreamcast up and down without pulling on it. If the picture on the screen flashed, you have yourself some bent pins. The thing you read online about the video chip in the Dreamcast not working might be if someone has taken their Dreamcast apart, one of the screws ...

Re: Shenmue launch

The expensive thing is kind of a misrepresentation. The version of Shenmue that was released on DC was expensive to make, but no more so than any other game of its scale at the time. The myth comes to life by way of the fact that AM2 was working on that game since the Sega Saturn was around. That's...

Re: VMU problem

It sounds like your gamesave has become corrupt. It happens every once in a while, and if it happens frequently, your VMU might be on it's way out. Since it's just one save though, I'm fairly sure it's probably not a hardware problem. Anyway, what you can try is download a tool called Dream Explorer...

Re: Half Life on DC

I've played quite a bit of Half-Life on DC (I set out to play it from start to finish). Like everyone else has already said, The load times are terrible. You also will need to have an entire VMU dedicated to it because the save files tend to shrink and get larger, so you don't want to run out of spa...

Re: Shenmue launch

Shenmue is a love it or hate it type game. It was hyped a lot and also if you watch trailers there is a sense of epic-ness about the whole thing. It is the most expensive game made to date, and IIRC I read somewhere that they had an entire building working on it.

Re: Next For Next Together Retro: Jet Grind Radio

Jet Grind Radio is awesome, I've played through it twice already and probably will at least a third time. It's definitely not only one of my favourite games on the Dreamcast, but one of my favourite games on any platform.

Re: Overclocking DC

It speeds everything up and while it does fix some slowdowns in games that have them, it can mess up any game that worked fine before overclocking. For example, music might become out of sync or the game could freeze. It's neat, but not very practical.

Re: What rpg has the best story?

I finished Skies of Arcadia a couple weeks ago and loved it, although I don't play that many RPGs.

Re: Phantasy Star Online

Gamecube has more people than v2, but I play v2 and if you are lucky enough you will find some good people to play with that don't hack or cheat. Be aware though, if you have NTSC v2 or JP v2, you will not be able to connect because one of the servers that was sega-side was taken down. The server wa...
