Phantasy Star Online
Phantasy Star Online
Now that I finally have an internet connection in my room I have been thinking getting involved with one of those private servers for Phantasy Star Online. I was wondering if any of you guys played on any of these servers and had any sort of feedback. Also the question I am pondering right now is it worth to drop the coin on the Dreamcast Broadband Adaptor or would it be better to get a Gamecube broadband adaptor as those seem to be more affordable. Is there a significant amount of players playing on one system as opposed to the other? I already have version 2 for Dreamcast but yeah, I just want to get some input before I move forward. Thanks!
Re: Phantasy Star Online
Gamecube population is far bigger, around 20-30 on at peak times. Dreamcast........your looking at maybe 1. And they will be level 200 guaranteed. But then again, most GC players are well into the hundreds, but that doesnt mean they wont help you level, just be prepared to do some soloing.
The dreamcast BBA really isn't worth it in my opinion, especially considering that the game runs fine on dial-up.
You only really need on to rip games with.
Hope this helps.
Oh yeah, and Schtserv is the only place to play. Online consoles is so much hassle to get in, and then its just four blokes.

Gamecube has more people than v2, but I play v2 and if you are lucky enough you will find some good people to play with that don't hack or cheat. Be aware though, if you have NTSC v2 or JP v2, you will not be able to connect because one of the servers that was sega-side was taken down. The server was used to check if people had paid their monthly fee, but since PAL v2 was free do play the check for this server isn't in the game and you can connect with that one only. The Gamecube version is also regarded as the easier one between the two because drop rates are modified and so is the way you gain experience.

Just play PSO Blue Burst on your PC, on Schthack. Instructions here:

Download the client here:

PSOBB has the most users, and it's the most refined version of PSO.

PSO... really? Don't get me wrong its a sentimental favorite and one of my top 10 games ever. Couldn't play it online again without a good community though. The PSP version of PSU sounds interesting though.

I wish there was a better way to get online with the Dreamcast. PSO is one of my favorite Gamecube games; I'd buy the Dreamcast version in a heartbeat if there was an easy way to play online with other rookies...

I disagree. Blue Burst is far too easy. They messed with the game and added a whole bunch of souped up weaponry and armour. Also, although BB has a much larger community, i have only met about 5 genuinely nice people on there. The gamecube and dreamcast communities are very friendly.

Thanks everyone! After gather people's feedback here and doing some research I think even though I have V2 for the Dreamcast already I am going to seek out the version for the Gamecube and a broadband adapter. Once I get set up I'll be sure to hit up some of you folks to play with.
