Sega CD info?

Post by HailToApples »

I have a model 1 Sega Genesis, and I'm planning to buy a model 2 Sega CD soon. However, I want some information on what I need to do to run the Sega CD and what the accessories do(Mixing cable, Audio cables, etc.). That's all, thanks.

I really just post questions most of the time. I'm that kind of person, but who cares...

Technically, you just need the CD and the Genesis. The problem you will have with Model 1 Genesis and Model 2 CD is that there is a metal plate extension which helps support the extra length of the Model 1 Genesis. It's not necessary per se, but you might want to put something on the side to help support the end.

The audio cable changes where the mixing is done IIRC. Sound will still be produced from the unit without the cable.

p.s. Can you change your super vague thread title? :)

It was actually supposed to be "Can someone give me advice on the Sega CD?", but it didn't load all the way.

This forum is weird. Thanks for the advice though.

I think with a Model 1 Genesis, specifically, the mixing cable was required if you wanted stereo sound -- Model 1s only produced stereo from the headphone jack.

I am not 100% certain on this, however. I have my model 2 with an audio mod and couldn't be happier with it.

I'm pretty sure you're correct, my point was that really to get audio/video regardless of fidelity, all you need is the two units.

Yeah awesome sight. Diagrams on how to hook up every possible combo of all 3 Genesis (Genesises? Lol), both SCDs, & 32x if you start at link below. Also a great list of power supplies.
