DC Game - No Music but Great Shape

Post by Jagosaurus »

So my NFL Blitz 2000 finally bit the dust. The in game music doesn't work.

My system & lens is fine, runs my other games flawless. Disc looks to be dang near perfect, I'd say a 9.5/10. Cleaned the disc again as well.

Did it fall victim to disc rot? SFX is still there. Music will occasionally cut in but die out. I'm thinking disc rot BC it had this problem from time to time a few years back & gradually got worse. I've heard of the music gradually going out on some SS games but first I've seen on the DC.

Thoughts?

Try the game on another (known good) DC if possible.

Yeah, will do. Not likely though, my system plays discs my buddy's has issues with. There is a chance my particular console doesn't like this disc for whatever reason. Just find it odd it got worse with time...

All midway first printing Launch titles on the Dreamcast had problems of various contraints. Audio issues were one of them on certain titles. Is your copy of Blitz blue or red? If its the former then there you have it.

Didn't even think of this! Only Midway title I've seen in the wild with the reprinted "Hot! New!" logo is Ready to Rumble.

My disc is blue. So that is how you can tell on disc only? Blue is the misprinted copies & red in the fixed reprint?

For those of you who haven't ever run into this... check the midway titles you find in the wild. They need the Hot! New! sticker. Thanks for the reminder man. I find it odd it seemed to get gradually worse. Oh well, at least now we know.

i know all of the Midway launch titles had major issues, rendering the game unplayable.

Sega/Midway then rereleased their games with a green sticker saying HOT! NEW! Those stickers actually indentified the 'patched' discs.

So i imagine if you are having issues and you dont see a sticker on your jewel case, that could be it. Hope this helps.
