Any decent NES hidden gems?
Any decent NES hidden gems?
Ok I'm just now really starting to try and build up a classic library(especially because with some series because I've slowly turned into the nut who wants to play a series from the beginning even if it's not required), are there any hidden gems or games I've not already put on my list https://springpad.com/#!/darsparx/noteb ... eckout(yes quite a few of those are for other systems than nintendo but seems that square along with a few others did a lot of console hopping in the past few decades like crazy) that I need to checkout? I'm trying to stay clear of the conventional NES sidescrollers unless they are really good because all 10 or so games my dad already had with the NES(I kinda overtook ownership of because it was just sitting collecting dust in the garage in a box), are sidescrollers/platformers. I'm already trying to get Dragon Warrior I-III(I is on the way the other two I will be trying to get in the next few months), and crystalis(waiting on this one to come in too). I just don't know where to start, though I'll also be trying to get a snes and possibly a personal n64(so I don't have to take that away from my dad since he still plays his). Is there anything i'm missing? (I may have forgotten to add some stuff from lists i'm looking at but I'm not entirely sure :-\)

Re: Any decent NES hidden gems?
Well I was hoping that there was some recommendations outside of that(even though I'm only going to get the games weren't released on the snes because I'm going to try to get my own tv and a snes as well)...even some gb/c/a recommendations would be welcome(even though for gba I had a list of over 40 games I enjoyed and had at one point but lost or I don't know what or might still have somehow...)
Also while i'm thinking about it, what makes summon night 1 for gba uncommon/rare? I had summon night for gba and have apparently lost the first one(but still have the second one) and would've liked to replay 1 before getting started on 2 but I can't find it and apparently it's $25 or more(and that's just for loose!), am I missing something here?

Lunar Pool. The 2 player mode is surprisingly hilarious.
Re: Any decent NES hidden gems?
And i knew there had to be something, just hope soon I'm able to expand past the 10 + 2( that are on the way) games I already had for the nes...it's just sad that my nes collection(and snes hopefully soon) is so far behind the great games even if I do have some of the common ones that most had originally with the system(Super Mario Bros 1/Duck Hunt, mega man 4(don't know why dad didn't have the first 3), SMB3) and some ones that people aren't too fond of like flintstones rescue of dino and hoppy, crazy castle 1, and bugs bunny birthday(which imo are great games just frustrating) and a few bible games for some odd reason...The summer is looking like a great time(after I finally get a tv for my room) to expand this library. I think I might even head to a few stores in my area that I got off a list on this site to get them...(I think I should have named this list "Any good classic rpgs not by square/enix/taito/namco tales"(since I know those definitely released some great games to look into)even if most are going to be ports but I don't understand japanese....yet)

As well since I know quite a few of you probably play the japanese games and probably on the actual (super) fami, is there a place you might recommend learning japanese? It seems that there's not really a decent way that actually engages you to learn it and makes it easier(especially want to learn it since we really got jipped on jrpgs and their remakes/ports)

I would pick up The Guardian Legend like, RIGHT NOW.
Seriously. Hit up a website, or go to a retro game store, and GET IT.

I always liked Tiger Heli. A vertical scrolling shooter like Raiden that can be snagged for $5.
I'll look @ my library tonight but that one jumps out as underrated & cheap.

Batman
Golgo 13: Top Secret Episode (The Mafat Conspiracy is the sequel to this)
The Guardian Legend
Kabuki Quantum Fighter
Jackie Chan's Action Kung-Fu
Nightmare on Elm Street
StarTropics
Are all games that were pretty overlooked at the time and are all good-to-great.
Most are really cheap.
