So, I have a launch model backwards compatible PS3. I bought it brand new and it went largely unused for several years. Now, I have really started getting back into the Playstation brand with PS+ and the various PS platforms (PS3, PS4, Vita).
My question is this: would you all trust the longevity of this machine?
I want to start getting into some PS2 games again but don't feel 100% comfortable with my PS3 sticking around for the long haul. Even though my PS3 has never given me any problems, I've just heard that a lot of launch model (fat) PS3's are a lot more prone to failing than the newer slimmer ones.
I can still buy a new PS2 from amazon for $100. But, I really like using the PS3 for PS2 games. You have great wireless controllers, you get (practically) unlimited memory cards, and it consolidates space in my AV rack.
If you all were in my shoes would you just carry on with the PS3 or would you go ahead and buy a brand new PS2 and go back to the archaic wired controllers and physical memory cards?
