Oh man, I have no idea how I would even begin to complete my list in the challenge. Not after the giant bomb of school work that has hit me. Brain overload!!

played s'more Rondo tonight. Beat that werewolf boss, got to the 3rd boss and he wrecked me. Silly... I thought I had unlimited continues in this game, but nope. 2 left. (No Konami code right?) Which makes me feel confident that I'll have to start from the beginning again this Summer. :|

You can find pre-patched versions on ROM sites.

Applying a patch to a GBA game isn't very tough anyway.

A Link to the Past vs Phantasy Star 4 vs Mother 3

What you say amongst these 16 bit games? Pretty sure I'll play one of these during the summer.

^I say play A Link to the Past. Though truthfully, you can't really go wrong with that lineup.

-----

I've decided that I want to play Radical Dreamers before I play Chrono Cross. The game is a visual novel, so it won't take long. I'm not removing anything in favor of it. Rather, I've added it to my list as a "half" entry.

1. Demon's Crest - SNES
2. Sonic Pocket Adventure - NGPC
3. Harvest Moon GBC - GBC
4. Panzer Dragoon - Saturn
5. Shadowrun - Genesis
6. Chrono Cross - PS1
6.5 Radical Dreamers - SNES
7. Ys 3: Wanderers from Ys - Genesis - Complete
8. Deus Ex - PC
9. Metal Slug 2 - PSN
10.Golden Axe 3 - Genesis - Complete

Regarding progress, I'm in the first summer of Harvest Moon. I'm pretty much already running on autopilot, so completing it is strictly a matter of time.

I also just received my new NGCP this afternoon, and my copy of Sonic Pocket a few days back, so that should be done soon.

Re: Summer Game Challenge 2013 - What will you be playing?

Post by Ack »

1. Donkey Kong Country
2. Pilotwings
3. StarFox
4. John Madden Football
5. Super Mario Bros 3 (Super Mario All-Stars)
6. NBA Jam
7. Prince of Persia
8. Sunset Riders
9. Yoshi's Island
10. Chrono Trigger
2 down, 8 to go.

I'm continuing on in Chrono Trigger and have just passed Magus' castle. The 7th Saga appears to have broken my sense of what constitutes a challenging RPG, because this game feels like a complete cakewalk. The only boss that has been somewhat of a challenge was Magus, and only because he kept barrier changing into fire, which sucked because I didn't have Lucca in my party. Once he stopped the barrier changes, I triple teched him for about 1000 damage each chance I got until he dropped. I did the same thing for his minions Slash and Flea. Chrono and Frog are working out quite well, and Robo's only downside is his terrible speed.

Anyway, I've finally beaten Super Mario Bros. 3! The final world wasn't too bad, though the mini-fortress was more complicated than I was expecting. But Bowser's Castle really wasn't too bad once I memorized my route and figured out the best way to avoid those laser beams. I really hate those lasers. Anyway, after a while I managed to get to Bowser consistently, but it took me a bit to figure out what I was supposed to do, and he has a bad habit of changing up his pattern. He'd sink into the fireball, fireball, jump pattern long enough to lull me and then suddenly mix it up by changing the timing. Still, I enjoyed the fight once I figured it out, though there were a couple of harrowing moments where Bowser missed me by a pixel.

Well, I managed to make it to the Inca statue in Ducktales, but I haven't beaten it yet. This is why I'm so bad a platformers. I get antsy during boss fights, end up moving around too much and jump or run right into them >_< At least I managed to bop it on the head three times. I guess I have to do it 5? I'm close.

As for that infernal bee, I managed to kill it once! As I was coming down from the ship I pressed A+B+Down and pogo-ed it in the face  Of course, then I couldn't avoid another one that came in and hit me from the left, so my short victory was moot

Holy crap...

I really friggin' suck at Super Mario Bros. This game was played fairly often when I was a kid, as the NES was the only system I had for a while. I tried playing SMB3 a few months ago and sucked then too. I'm not sure if I should blame the controller, the HDTV, or that I'm just really rusty. I can't ever seem to land my jumps right, and those springs... those horrible springs...

So far, I've only managed to make it as far as World 5-3. I'll give it some more time tomorrow, but the little I played today just made me frustrated... How can somebody be bad at Super Mario Bros.? :(
