Probably Sega Master System and Astro Warrior or Double Dragon. At one point in my childhood, we took the Master System "Up North" and it was in our garage. Dad and I would take turns playing Astro Warrior in between dying. I'm sure there are others, but it was some quality dad-time.

[I was 6 yrs old]-My dad wasn't a fan of games, But when Mario 64 was booted up everyone flocked to the living room with guides, pizza, and (soft) drinks. We would spend countless hours in the living room having fun with the puzzles and wacky level designs.Probably one of the fondest memories I have of my childhood. :D

While it may seem generic -

NES & Super Mario Bros 3.

Great memories playing with my family as a kid & then drinking beer & playing it in college with my roommate. Never gets old to me.

For a console its got to be the SNES. I can't think of any other that I have poured more time into. Many fond memories.

For a game I have to say Hellcats over the Pacific:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellcats_Over_the_Pacific

I would have been playing this back in 1992 on a Mac II le. I believe it had a whopping 80mb hard drive and 8mb of ram. My dad had bought such a machine (which would have been close to $5000 at the time) because he was a graphic artist, and required it for his job at the time. Well maybe he didn't require it but he wanted it enough to finance it.

Anyway this game literally blew me away as a child. A full 3d game running at 640x480 was more than incredible in 1991/1992. Reading the wiki article brings that much more to light. The slow chase camera angle(commonly used in racing games and flight sims to this day) was more than a big deal and instant replays on top of that. I was very lucky to be playing such a game at the time.

I like a lot of games and consoles for different reasons ... and the games I enjoyed playing the most aren't always my favorites. It's really about those personal aspects that make them special. I guess I have a bit of a tie.

When I was a kid, and it got to Friday evenings ... my dad wasn't usually around and my mom would let me bring the NES out to the living room. And we'd play Super Mario Bros. and then later Super Mario Bros. 3

It'd be impossible to get through SMB3, she would ALWAYS go into POW. But, she actually got pretty good at Super Mario Bros. She almost beat it. Died at Bowser on the very last stage ... I never got that far when I was a kid.

So, I get a lot of fondness about NES and SMB, in general, because of that stuff.
