For a console its got to be the SNES. I can't think of any other that I have poured more time into. Many fond memories.
For a game I have to say Hellcats over the Pacific:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellcats_Over_the_PacificI would have been playing this back in 1992 on a Mac II le. I believe it had a whopping 80mb hard drive and 8mb of ram. My dad had bought such a machine (which would have been close to $5000 at the time) because he was a graphic artist, and required it for his job at the time. Well maybe he didn't require it but he wanted it enough to finance it.
Anyway this game literally blew me away as a child. A full 3d game running at 640x480 was more than incredible in 1991/1992. Reading the wiki article brings that much more to light. The slow chase camera angle(commonly used in racing games and flight sims to this day) was more than a big deal and instant replays on top of that. I was very lucky to be playing such a game at the time.
