Ten years ago good super-hero movies were few and far in-between. The Avengers wouldn't have been lambasted AT ALL. It would have been the greatest thing a geek had ever seen back then.

That mostly had to do with the show's budget getting unplugged, leaving them with limited resources to finish it.

EoE is weird and cryptic but it's at least finished.
