I opened up the case today and didn't see any additional tube supports so I think I should be ok running the TV sideways.

I also checked to see if there is any way to adjust the picture size manually but I think I'm outta luck there. I did see what looked like a horizontal width coil but it wouldn't budge so I think it may not be adjustable.

The only thing I saw that was adjustable was a pot on the power supply section.

Hard to tell from the picture, any sort of supports hiding behind that black cable? Look for ribbed plastic under the bezel, compare it to the new Tate mode bottom side. You might want to take a soft brush and an air can or blower mode vac while the cover is off.

There is zero risk of that light TV weakening the support screws. This isn't a 200lb CRT.

Hope you are right. Mat mentioned it is a HD tube (for the VGA) which typically weighs more then a same sized SD CRT.

CRT, I think you'd have a heart attack if you walked into my garage. I have not one, but 4 CRT's on TATE, 2 of them MUCH bigger than that one.

Here's the thing - most tubes are getting extra support in horizontal position either - they have 4 or occasionally 6 screws into the frame. Some (all?) have the metal frame in back as well which makes contact with the case and offers more support (both vertically or horizontally). At about 20-25lbs per screw on that TV - I don't see any issue. I haven't had any issues with much larger tv's at 40-50lbs per screw. I'm not saying it's impossible, i'm saying it's highly unlikely, about as likely as the tube falling to the bottom of the case in horizontal position (well, maybe the odds increase a touch, but not enough to warrant a sleepless night).

The black cable is the degaussing coil. You can't really see it in the picture but there are no additional supports behind the coil. The only things holding the CRT in place are the four screws at the corners of the tube.
