What is your favorite memories on the sega dreamcast
Re: What is your favorite memories on the sega dreamcast
My favorite memories of the Dreamcast would include playing Dish's most overrated game, being sick enough but well enough to play and beat Spider-Man in one sitting/lying down, and nights full of NFL2K1 with college buddies.

My favorite Dreamcast memory is playing Soul Calibur when I was two. That's actually my earliest memory. God I wish I was two again.

Just lost an enormous post -- I'll try again if I get another chance anytime soon.
Moderators, is there anything that can be done about the forum logging you out as you're writing a post and kicking you to the log-in screen when you press "post", rendering said post irretrievable? The forums have been this way forever, but it's been driving me crazy lately.

I've never ran into this issue. I think it's likely a problem on your end.Original_Name wrote:Just lost an enormous post -- I'll try again if I get another chance anytime soon.

Have you tried different browsers or something?

I haven't had the forums "log me out", but I often get a message saying I'm disconnected when I click submit, and then I press back on my browser button and hit submit a 2nd time and works. Doesn't happen every time, but it happens often enough. And it only seems to happen here at Racketboy. I just never made a deal out of it since all I have to do is press back on my browser to work around it.AppleQueso wrote:I've never ran into this issue. Re: What is your favorite memories on the sega dreamcast
My favourite Dreamcast memories are as follows:
Launch Day1999:
Being a young child (11 years old, I think), I could not afford the Dreamcast yet. My parents had told me if I wanted a new games console, I had to save up for it (which, by the way, was true for every console/hand held I've ever owned, with the only exception being the Mega Drive). I was so hyped for the console though and had been following it in my magazines.
My local independent games store had an N64 and used to charge people 60p per hour to play on any game you wanted they had in stock. On the Dreamcast's launch, they had one by the side of the N64 and charged £1 to play it for an hour. After school, my friend and I walked up to town to try the new console. It was awesome. We tried both Virtua Fighter 3TB and Ready To Rumble Boxing. This solidified in my mind it was definitely the Dreamcast I wanted and I wasn't going to wait for a PS2.
Finally buying one (2000):
The next year, around my birthday, I finally bought one. I got Sonic Adventure, Trick Style, Tomb Raider and UEFA Striker with it. Everything about the console blew me away. The graphics, the gameplay, the VMU... Everything. I didn't care I had some mediocre games. I just loved it. I even loved the demo discs I picked up.
Christmas 2000:
This was the first time since buying the console that I got some new games. I got 6 games (can't remember what they all were). 2 of them were Shenmue and Soul Calibur. With these two games, my parents did not see me, not only all Christmas, but also all January and February too. They blew me away. I also got Worms Armageddon which was a blast when I had friends over. But my best friend and I always liked to play Shenmue together, both gripped to the screen wondering what was going to happen next.
My birthday 2001:
As weird as it sounds, the night before my birthday, I stayed over a friend's house. I took with me my Dreamcast and we stayed up late playing some great multiplayer games. The next day, on my birthday, we went over my house, I opened my presents and I got Grandia 2. We both played it together and were gripped by the story and characters. We both loved JRPGs, so understandably, we both loved it.
My birthday 2005:
Finally, after 4 years of wanting it badly, I got Shenmue 2. My girlfriend bought it for me after we saw it in the local Gamestation at a bargain price.

I remember buying Code Veronica and playing it for the first time. I was staying at my Grandma's with my family and I bought my Dreamcast with me. When we were in town, I saw Code Veronica at a bargain price, so I picked it up. It blew me away and quickly became my favourite Resident Evil game (until the Remake and RE4 came along).G-Darius wrote:Shenmue 1/2 for sure, great games.Other memories are of Code Veronica and my favourite Dc racer 18 Wheeler.

Re: What is your favorite memories on the sega dreamcast
Bought one a couple weeks after launch in '99. I mowed MANY yards to pay for that!
My dad was amazed & bought NFL2K "for me" lol. He was working nights & would practice during the day... a couple weeks later he beat me BAD, ha! Sneaky, sneaky.
I was that guy still rocking the DC while my friends were on the PS2 & XBox already.
The system STILL lives on for me. Just imported Shenmue II in early 2013

Favorite memory has to be the first time I ever played Sonic Adventure. That first level blew me away unlike any game has in the past. The speed, graphics, and is that a f'n whale chasing me!?!?
That's something I have been meaning to do since '02 lol. I refuse to buy the oxbox version. Just seems like a sin to NOT play it on a DC. .
Just imported Shenmue II in early 2013![]()
