Re: What is your favorite memories on the sega dreamcast
My favorite Dreamcast memory was going into a Babbage's (remember those?) and seeing the Sonic Adventure intro playing on one of the DC kiosks. That intro just blew my ten year old mind. It looked amazing with its direction, transitions, and high-poly models. The CGI made me think of Pixar movies, not something I'd see in a game. It just great seeing Sonic in 3D. Of course Sonic was in 3D before on the Saturn, but those models weren't that great to be honest. To me that intro had a real sense of grandeur and scope, "Sonic for the New Millenium!" Looking back, I think I was also marveling at seeing gaming evolve.

Playing one for the first time in 2010 and thinking "Hey this is pretty cool, I should have picked one up 10 years ago."

Re: What is your favorite memories on the sega dreamcast
The Dreamcast was the first console I ever bought brand-new with my own money. I had traded in other systems towards systems before, but with the Dreamcast it was a brand-new purchase because I didn't want to let go of my PS1. Took a bit of lawn-mowing to get that bad boy.
The first games I bought with it were Resident Evil: Code Veronica, Shenmue, and Marvel vs. Capcom.
The first time I heard my Dreamcast reading a disc, I thought something was wrong with it and promptly took it back to GameStop (I think it might have still been a FuncoLand then); and the guy kind of laughed at me and told me it was normal, then turned on the one he had set-up there to test games.

Playing Grandia 2. Dat music, dat battle system, dat everything.
Secondary highlight would be playing the Berserk game (huge fan of the manga), but my biggest highlight with the system was the joy of experiencing Grandia 2. So much fun.
Maybe off topic, but god damn did I hate the pain delivered through playing Guilty Gear on that god forsaken D-pad. Loved the game, but the controller was a rough one to do quick quarter circles on, let one 180s.

As it was mine. Got it online for $59.99. Also amazed at actually being "next-gen" for the course of just a few months (late 2001), and able to buy NEW games at actual game storesBurningDoom wrote:The Dreamcast was the first console I ever bought brand-new with my own money.

Re: What is your favorite memories on the sega dreamcast
I have had so many great mem w/ the dreamcast that i recieved from my parent for a BDay gift. My most cherish one is probably opening up Sonic and just showing my friends how great the game was and how well its played. Also spent the few months playing and beating Shenmue with my siblings, its shame we havent done it since.
THis was literally the first time that i felt that i truly had an arcade machine in my room.

Only memory i have involving Sega is beating Phantasy Star IV. Was a grand moment when I got the final hit.

Re: What is your favorite memories on the sega dreamcast
Well phantasy star 4 is a great game but you should really think about getting a dreamcast if you have not played the thing. Everyone here would tell you it's one of the cheapest systems to get a hold of and it has some of the best games on that system. Even though many games have ported over to other systems, the dreamcast versions are the way to go.Sano wrote:Only memory i have involving Sega is beating Phantasy Star IV.
