Back on the forum after about a 10 day hiatus :) had very busy couple of weeks with work and family life. I'm back lol in the game.

Had to spend a good bit to fix my wife's SUV's AC today. It's only a 2010. Boo. AC is a must in a TX summer, esp with an infant riding in the back.

Up side is, this is the only issue we've had with the vehicle & they fixed it quickly. I had them do some preventative maintenance as well (oil, spark plugs, fuel treatment/injector cleaning).

While spending money unexpectedly is never "fun" I believe your vehicle is your second most important asset next to your home for most. Have to keep them up. I tend to have a fairly pisitive outlook on it. Living in the suburbs & commuting to work, your income & daily life depends on your vehicle.

New tires for the truck are the next project. About to hit 58K on this set. Warranty was for 50K. I'd like to get 62.5K out of them. Rotated religiously, should be able to.

SUV & truck in question below. Sorry these are dark.

You and almost everyone else I know. I'm staying put while my wife goes with her friends. But I will be playing Jaws Unleashed and Endless Ocean.

Heading home after a nice vacation. As always - a ton of memories and good times...and as always; some major frustrations. I love Chicago; my fathers' side is still mostly in and around Chicago - but i'll never go back. Never. Not for a funeral, wedding, or free Bears / Packers tickets. It is now officially the worst big city to travel in / through. I've not been through the big Texas cities, but have been through the rest and it is by far the worst.

Did you drive there?

To me you can't beat traveling in Chicago because public transportation is cheap, simple, and often free. There are free apps that are idiot proof as well to help you use public transportation to get to where you need to go.

And if you flew, I hope you didn't go to Midway.

Speaking of Chicago, my best buddy from middle school is taking his first trip to Chicago to see The Grateful Dead, or what's left of 'em. He talked about renting a car and I talked him out of it as he's staying on the Gold Coast, which is near LSD. Told him to take the blue line out of O'Hare, switch to the red line and it would cost him about five bucks. Turned out that the red line stopped less than a 1/4 mile from where he was staying.

tldr: Don't drive unless you need to in Chicago. Their public transportation is just as good, if not better than that in London.

The worst driving in the US is probably Los Angeles, though Atlanta is working its way up there. I've heard it compared to LA traffic in the 1990s. Compounding matters, public transit isn't up to snuff. The MARTA bus system is big, but the rail system is bare bones, and the taxi services around here are God awful.

Oh come on, Midway isn't bad. The only negative thing I have to say about it is there's no Dunkin Donuts like at O'Hare.

I have to drive in Atlanta a few times a year. Shit sucks. I always dread I-85 and its resident maniacs. Not to mention the sphagetti junction.

I've never seen a Dunkin in Houston. Shipley Donuts run the show here. Also, our donut shops serve kolaches. Curious how many ppl go Google kolache, know it's primarily southern....
