Also worth noting that the japanese memory card will work on a US Saturn (in engish too!) and is considerably cheaper than a US official Memory card.

A lot of games don't allow saving directly to official memory carts. Those that do won't recognize the Action Replay 4in1.

Just boot your Saturn with AR inserted & click manage memory. You can then transfer your saves from the internal batt to the AR. Takes less than a minute. My internal batt has died numerous times. Those backups are a life saver.

Also, the SS internal memory is fairly small. The AR holds a ton! This has allowed me to keep saves to all my games in one place.

Makes me wonder how people saved Dezaemon 2 games once they were completed. The Saturn backup seems too small to hold a full-fledged game.

Not sure about that one but on the Sega CD Dune took up basically the entire save memory. IIRC Shining Force took up more than the internal batt & you had to transfer data over to a Sega CD RAM cart. There was that odd time in early optical gaming where they didn't quite have saving down. Sony finally got that one down for everyone :).

Yeah, you could save only one file for each book at a time in SFCD. But I also believe there was a system file that contained the flags for the extra content, so you could still get access to books 3 and 4, you just had to nuke your saves to do so. Which kinda sucks, because I'm sure that ends up leaving you with a base-level team as opposed to whatever you might have gotten during the course of the game.

Also, might as well bring this up.

To get the best picture quality (no lag) without spending hundreds of $$$ for a Framemeister from the Saturn to a HDTV, is a SCART setup the most ideal? I want to really see how beautiful the Capcom Vs. games look without having to buy a CRT, as I dont have space for one.

Plus
http://www.robwebb1.plus.com/saturn/saturnhard.htm (Saturn RGB Scart cable)
Equals what I used to make my Waku Waku 7 and Alien Trilogy reviews on my channel.

I've also got tons of footage of Vampire Savior, and looking over the footage it's hard to distinguish from CPS2 footage.

I think so. My Saturn is connected to my HDTV via RGB SCART and it looks gorgeous.

Just so I understand, the setup is......

Saturn > SCART Cable > SCART-to-HDMI converter > TV = Better Saturn picture on HDTV with no lag?
