Gaming systems you love, but wouldn't collect.

I know right? I guess that's why I'm feeling like going full #emulatorcore.

If it is optically based and not current gen, I am not actively collecting for it. All carts all the time.

I would so love to get into Saturn and Dreamcast. Thankfully I've got just about every SNES cart I want at this point, so maybe someday.

Definitely AES, but I can't justify those prices when I bought the MVS carts and shockboxes for a tenth of the price and play identically on my CMVS

GBA comes to mind for me.
I was big into the Gameboy and I get a lot of use of my DS/3DS games. I think I would hop into the GBA library well. I also really like the 16 bit look to most GBA games.
I really want to play the games but would be going after cart only which are odd to store and I don't care for the look of them. Don't want to go through the hassle of finding empty DS cases with GBA game holders, then printing from the cover project. That... & the piracy factor on many games I'm interested in.

The Dreamcast isn't bad. You can get a lot of good games for $5-15.SNESdrunk wrote:I would so love to get into Saturn and Dreamcast. Thankfully I've got just about every SNES cart I want at this point, so maybe someday.
On a separate note, I wonder how many people actually collect for the SMS. It's probably the only system I'll have a legitimate chance at completing a set, and there are quite a few good games. Most of them aren't that pricey either IMO.

I think there's a common consensus that a lot of the more renown and popular consoles are quite pricey, and then there's some niche markets like Neo Geo that are also pretty exclusive due to prices.
There's about 40 NES games I'd like to add to my collection, most of them are in the 15-30 price range. It's mainly the definitive titles to the console like Contra, Mike Tyson's Punch Out, Duck Tales, Metroid, Mega Man, etc. I don't want to buy them online because of shipping and not being able to test the cart, so I'm going to resort to local hunting.
I believe the same goes for SNES. The more expensive games like Earthbound and Chrono Trigger I'm comfortable with Virtual Console versions of. I'll snag F-Zero, Star Fox, perhaps Super Metroid. It's amazing how expensive it is to collect for SNES.
I'm glad I have most of the Dreamcast games that I've wanted. The spikes for a lot of the Capcom Shmups and Fighters are astronomical and I can't imagine being a collector wanting to start now. There's about 10 that I really want to round out my collection and the most pricey is Bangai-O & D2.
Outside of that, I'm not too keen on collecting much else. I'd rather be picking up stuff I'd regularly play or replay like once every 1-3 years.

I'm actually surprised that Master System games are not more expensive, as I never ever see them in the wild. I saw a Master System console only once in my local retro shop and I bought it. I guess it must not hit that nostalgia bone with most since most people never grew up with it or even knew it existed. Hell when I was a kid I thought the Genesis was Segas first console, Genesis was the first chapter in the bible so it made me think it meant it was their first console.

You know there's another Sega console that even predates the Master System, right?
