I'll have to look @ which SS hockey title it is (own it but forget)... but the one shown in Mallrats is good. Kevin Smith wanted to show NHL 94 on Genesis but Sega was going to pay them for showing the new, upcoming SS release. He says it was the first time he sold out. Sega ended up backing out & the SS footage made it in. This why the Genesis NHL 94 finds its way into Chasing Amy. Fun Sega sports trivia

NHL All Star Hockey was Sega's puck brand. Never played it to be honest.
An aside (to an earlier comment): NHL'98 on the Saturn is a terrible version of that game. Not sure what happened.

How did Sega end up backing out but still show their hockey brand and SS in the movie? I looked it up and they said it was footage from NHL All-Star Hockey (Sega Brand) but used EA's sound effects and commentary.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll probably just skip it and stick to 94 on the Genesis and 2k2 on the Dreamcast when I'm in the mood for some hockey.

What about NFL Quarterback club for the Saturn? I loved the original for the Genesis. Especially the QB Challenge. Sometimes my family and I will get together and see who can get the high score.
I wonder if the Saturn versions are decent.

@sp, not sure. Honestly, it's a low budget movie so the added cost to edit late would've been a hit. Kevin Smith mentions it the DVD commentary of mallrats during the opening basement scene. Sega was going to promo the movie on some upcoming tour & backed out. Love how she calls him Sega Boy later in the movie
