Console w Biggest Love It or Hate It Factor?
Re: Console w Biggest Love It or Hate It Factor?
I wonder if the Saturn qualifies. I think that one's more like Love It or Don't Give A Damn About It.

N64, OXbox and Gamecube, definitely.
Love all three because of the exclusives they had. N64 is definitely on the light side for games I want, but since I love the old school FPS games I get my kicks there. OXbox just brought so much from previously PC territory, and some really nice exclusives. Gamecube, for me, was the console of that generation in my mind. PS2 had the advantage everywhere, but Gamecube was just what I know, and is the console for anybody who plays 3D Zelda games. The Resident Evil ports and my memories of multiplayer on there are just too much to pass up for me. And Pikmin damn it!

I kick people out of my house for not liking the N64, then I light them on fire and send them to Hell.
Also, I'm surprised to find out the N64 actually has a decent selection of import titles.

I was wondering when the Saturn was going to get brought up.
That one I think is more along the lines of these categories:
Love It or Hate It Because I Hate Sega's Idiotic Decisions
Love It or It's Too Expensive (then)
Love It or It's Too Expensive (now)
Love It or Hate It Because That Sonic Game Sucks Ass

Yea the N64 is a big one.

Another thing to consider is the existence of the GB player which definitely adds some bonus points to the system.BoneSnapDeez wrote: As for the GameCube - I love it but have only a small library of games. They're tough to find in the wild. Some great JRPGs on that system.

I skipped the Saturn @ the time & when I got one later (b4 prices skyrocketed) I realized the errors of my way!
I do hate it doesn't have a proper sonic release. Still baffles me. Also on a lesser scale I was upset the DC didn't see a Panzer Dragoon game... sega's decision making as you pointed out.. ugh
I'd say the Saturn was polarizing then... but most agree now it's a cool machine with a robust library.

I'll add another N64 hat to the pile. I love it and can't really see why any gamer would turn their nose up to it but it is a very divisive console and in fairness has its arse handed to it by the PS1 in almost every category.
The Saturn, at least in my experience, was never hated. If anything it and its owners were kind of pitied. When I tell people I own a Saturn they usually just ask "why" but they don't actually have an opinion on it.

Yeah I think I knew one person in the entirety of my childhood that had a Saturn.

Also, I adore the N64. Any of you who don't like it are crazy crazy fools. One of my favourites systems ever, and easily my favourite of that generation (which I think is one of the most interesting and fun eras of gaming personally)
