Yet another 3DS model announced - the NEW 3DS
Re: Yet another 3DS model announced - the NEW 3DS
I remain to think the C-stick is going to be great, because the movement range can't be much, so it being near the hinge probably won't be problem. Why wiouldn't Nintendo have thought about this. I also think it's better where it's now, rather than being under XYAB, because how convenient it will be to use both C-stick and the buttons quickly and almost at same time. The D-pad is also deeper into the system than in the OG 3DS, going to be bit more comfortable to use.

I've read some rumors that it may have no region lock.

Re: Yet another 3DS model announced - the NEW 3DS
I fall squarely into the worst category of potential buyers for this one. Got my 3DSXL about 6 months ago and, while I'd love to have this, it's just not smart financially and as a consumer.
Sucks though because the improved 3D is a very attractive feature to me.

Re: Yet another 3DS model announced - the NEW 3DS
Nintendolife put up a few polls asking various questions like "which model do you like most?" , "which one would you buy?", etc.
The question that needs to be asked by journalists (and consumers) is "how long will the New 3DS stay relevant?" If we're looking at a console that is meant to fill a three year gap between the next real leap in the DS line-up, then why drop 150+ on a console that will be irrelevant in the blink of an eye?
I know I'm repeating myself a bit (and others too) but, dang it, the new 3ds needs to be supported for at least five years. And I hope that is their intention.

Not sure if is going to last 5 more years... then again DS lasted for 8 years.

Re: Yet another 3DS model announced - the NEW 3DS
My guess would be they'd shoot for 3-4 years, but if the thing doesn't take off for whatever reason (poor sales, lack of third party support) I could see scrapping it after two then little it trickle with releases and die 6-12mo after its replaced.
If this thing is as upgraded as I think it will be given how much they underclocked and undervalued the existing system, games that truly tap it will be quite solid and keep people amused for quite awhile.

Not surprised as most... GBC was only a minor horsepower improvement... lasted 3 years IIRC.

Actually GBC wasn't all that minor. They doubled the speed of the z80(main cpu) on the thing, and then they doubled the video ram, 4x the system ram. It also could natively handle a 4MB cart instead of the 1MB cap of the GB. The DS to DSi did about the same doubling the CPU speed and 4X the memory to use too.

... I know the specs. We all have Google.
It was to hold devs over until the GBA. At the time I chose not to upgrade my GB Pocket...
Not a huge leap in my eyes. Also know the specs on the DSi & there were only a handful on DSi only titles (not including shop).
