Die Hard Arcade is an absolute must for beat 'em up fans. If you are alright with Japanese, Guardian Heroes is quite a bit cheaper in Japan than America.

Cotton 2 is one of my favorite shmups, along with the Parodius series - they all seem to be modestly priced compared to all the other shmups out there.

As for platformers, Magical Hoppers/Pandemonium is interesting. (I prefer Magical Hoppers, but to each their own.)

I also feel, even though it doesn't fit any of your genre requests, I have to recommend Elevator Action Returns. It's one of my all-time favorites on the Saturn.

I've never talked about one of my favorite Saturn games... Grid Runner

Think a long the lines of games like Bomberman, Dig Dug, Lo Lo.... with capture the flag meets "tag" elements. Lots of fun.

Thanks. Yea, its pretty awesome. Just wish it had some kind of save system..
Hobie-wan wrote:In the Hunt is fun IMHO. It is a bit more like a run and gun than a shmup since the screen only moves when you do and it is slower paced.
I'm a huge Metal Slug fan so it seems right up my alley. Is the slowdown I saw in reviews a big issue? This game is cheaper on PlayStation so I wonder if I might be paying more for a subpar version :(

While I like In The Hunt & think it's a cool piece of gaming history as "Metal Slug Zero" ... there are better ways to utilize your SS funds IMO.

Checked out Darius Garden yet?

Again, while it technically uses polygons.... check out Grid Runner. It strikes a cord with me as an old school guy.

Yea, In the Hunt is quite expensive..I'm going to wait on picking it up.

Darius Gaiden looks fantastic, just ordered it. I'll look into Grid Runner!

Both Cotton games have gone nuts the past year. Boomerang is doing $200+ now. Last auction was $239 shipped. Buy nows are over $300 and occasionally selling. I sold mine just 10 months ago for $100. Last Cotton 2 auction did $81 and it's doing $80-100 buy now, and selling consistently.

Parodius DA! Deluxe Pack is still reasonable, but the other 2 are also almost double what they were a year ago.
