Why is shipping from China so effing cheap?

I don't get it I see stuff that is less than $2 including shipping all over ebay, take this replacement DS screen http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bottom-Touch-LC ... 3cd0ea6363

I would assume shipping even a small little package to the US from China would cost more than $1.67 how are they making any profit?

Without any real knowledge, I just assume it's a combination of cheap shipping (land, boat, not air - don't expect it to arrive any time soon), low cost of production (cheap parts, low labor costs, etc) and volume. If you produce something cheap enough, and in great quantity, then even with a small profit per unit you can make a decent amount.

I've purchased Chinese items before that had incredibly low shipping costs. In my case they came by sea, so it takes a few months to get your items and there is no tracking. Despite that I had no problems, though.

I just bought a 90"x 24" Marvel Wall art thing for my wall from China on Ebay.. and it cost me $45 .. which was more than the damn wall art

My wife bought some costume jewelry off ebay from china a while back. I was like 2 bucks shipped for a necklace, and it came within a couple weeks and everything was fine. I always questioned how they could possibly ship something from china for cheaper than it costs for a first class package across the state.

I've never tried to ship anything from China as I wouldn't trust the post, but all I can say here is....things are cheap here. The equivalent of 20 pence for a beer. I also got a brand new pair of glasses, frames and lenses including eye test for around £10. Screens for consoles probably cost nothing to make.

I've wondered this same thing myself many times in the past. I've bought numerous iPhone and iPad cases, tools, and batteries off ebay for $2-5 shipped from China... Nothing has ever took more than 2 weeks to arrive. I have no explanation for how they can ship things so cheaply. If someone has an honest answer to share with us I'd love to hear it.
