Questions about Sega 32x

Post by psycoone007 »

So I know Sega produced 32x games on both CDs and carts, correct? 39 games in total. Did they release each game on CD and cart? So for a complete set, youd have 2 versions of each of the 39 titles?

They didn't release every 32X game on CD. 32X only games are all cartridges.

What's confusing you is there are a small handful of 32X enhanced Sega CD games that require the 32X to play.

These games are:

Corpse Killer
Night Trap
Slam City with Scottie Pippen
Supreme Warrior
Surgical Strike (Brazil Only)

Fahrenheit also had both version in one package as well right?

I never saw much point to these 32X/CD games. I own and like both system add-ons, but there's nothing original that warrants a 3rd power adapter (even if you do get cleaner, enhanced graphics, they seem like very sub-par games).

Wonders whether Genesis Xbox emulator can play them (so I can judge for myself)? The 32x cart emulation was very hit and miss for me.

You forgot Fahrenheit.

Edit: Also not quite sure where OP got 39 from. 40 total-total, but 2 PAL exclusive, 1 JP exclusive, and 1 BR exclusive. Leaving total 32x-only games as 34 (31 US, 32 PAL - no NBA Jam TE there, 32 JP) and total 32x-CD games as 6 (1 of which was only released in BR)
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed

Essentially with the enhanced color pallette & horsepower of the 32x, these titles video (notice they're all FMV games) is crisper. Old school version of 720 vs 1080 ;)

I've been less about graphics and more about play control. If the gameplay itself is just as good, I still don't see the point.
Case in Point: I still prefer Street Fighter II on Genesis to SNES (maybe even than the arcade versions, Super/Turbo and Anniversary excluded).

But I have always wondered what a good shmup for 32XCD would be like. CD sound with enhanced color and scaling on a system already known for its exceptional selection of shooters?, now that would make me plug in an extra power cord.
