So I'm transferring to Austin, TX

Post by Gooseberrysoda »

Lived in Michigan forever, moving to Austin for the school of RTF (as it seems every single other transfer is doing). I know a lot of you are from around there, got any sage advice on places to eat/visit/hike? Also totally looking for a place to live, so if you know of anyone with shared space, I'd really appreciate being put in touch with them.

Austin can be pretty fun. Can't help with the hiking or the living situations, but my favorite restaurant to eat breakfast at there is Kirby Lane cafe. Really good gingerbread pancakes. Place to visit for me is Arcade UFO. They have a nice selection of games (fighting, shmup, rhythm), which is updated on their site, AFAIK.

Make sure to ask your waiter/waitress where they like to eat, Sometimes it's "Burger King" but sometimes you get the info on a hole in the wall joint that serves the best food in town.

Go get 'em!

Trudy's has some excellent Mexican food. As well as the original Chuys.

If it's your first time living in Texas, you'll quickly learn to appreciate breakfast tacos. Check out Juan In A Million for these in ATX. My favorite in the city. Their taco challenge made its way onto Man v Food on Discovery.

As JMustang said, so many great Mexican food restaurants. Also so awesome Texas BBQ places such as Stubbs.

If you're a history buff, Texas & Austin have a ton to visit. Rich in history & state pride.

Why does it seem that most Racketboy regulars either live in Michigan or Texas?
