Whatever happened to Sega Saturn repair manual?

Post by benderx »

Whatever happened to Sega Saturn repair manual that someone was going to buy off it on ebay. I remember a Racketboy member was going to buy it off ebay and share the details with else. I don't think he ever won it. I've been trying to get at least one saturn to work properly, I've done the laser repair tricks and nothing improves. The sega saturn has very odd problems compared to any other console I've dealt with in the past. One of them runs fine except the colors (odd saturated missing colors and black and white flickering) are still distorted which could lead a seizure. the other one is in terrible shape not playing music cd or game at all, I think the main top deck or central board is not working properly. I'm going to see if I can fix the distorted Saturn board or maybe soldering video points from the board to get better signal. I know lukemorse can probably fix it, but i don't have that kind of money at the moment.

It sounds like maybe just video stuff which I presume is Mpeg.

You can play 90%+ of the CDi movies. The very early movies were a proprietary CDi format before the video CD standard was established. Very few though.

As s rule of thumb (Ghost was one exception I ran into) if it says "Video CD" in the bottom right it should work. If it says "Digital Video" on the bottom right it won't as it's the older format.

I will remember this little tidbit!

I have about a dozen movies but they all say Video CD.
