RPG Progress Report

Finally took out FFVII. The final dungeon was pretty easy - Yuffies conformer weapon is ridiculous. My main attacker, Cloud, was doing about 3500 damage using his 2x cut materia, but Yuffie was doing about 5000 to everyone using her Slash All materia, or 5000 damage twice to one target using her Mug + Attack as well combo. She could even do 4000 damage with Morph - more than Clouds main attack. Plus, she had hades effect added too, so half the time enemies would end up confused, frogged, poisoned, silenced and more from her attacks. It was a whitewash. Dont get me started on her hilarious 16 hit limit break.

Jenova went down in under 60 seconds due to Yuffies ludicrous attack power. The first sephiroth fight forced me to use my much weaker other party members, but I just spammed Bahamut summons with them and it wasn't too hard. Safer Sephiroth took 20,000 a pop from Yuffies Mug + attack combo, so he died very quickly too. The whole last boss rush was pretty hilariously easy. My team's materia set ups are below:


Cloud:
Cover, Counter Attack, Long Range, MP Plus, HP Plus, HP Plus, Double Cut, Restore + All, Phoenix + Elemental, Heal

Yuffie:
Steal + Add Cut, Added Effect + Hades, Slash All, Enemy Skill, Manipulate, Sense, Luck Plus, Restore + All, Revive, Morph + Steal as Well

Vincent:
Mega All, Barrier, Destruct, Revive, Time, Ultima, Comet + Turbo MP, MP Plus, Magic Plus, W-Item, Enemy Skill

Chapter 20 in Fire Emblem Awakening (of 26 chapter).

I really got worked in chapter 19 & it took some major healing & strategy. Time to hit the Risen battles & 3 paralouges I have open to grind up a bit.

Book II is definitely my favorite. Something about it just feels much more precise and well-rounded compared to the first game.

Does it have anything to do with the fact that a single dungeon doesn't consume half of the game's play time?

But yeah, Book II rules. Love the magic system. And the music is beautiful of course.

The Dawn of Ys is still the pinnacle of the series though.

Yeah, yeah that probably has something to do with it.

I should play Dawn of Ys. Loved Wanderers, but could not stand Oath, so my Ys streak was halted.

Well this should go in the Unpopular Opinions thread.

I like both. They're two very different games, despite being - ya know, really similar.

If you didn't like Oath you probably wouldn't dig Ys VI or Ys Origin either. They all run off the same engine.
