Hi, I'm new here...I'm actually pretty new still to the whole collecting side of gaming...been collecting now for about a year or more...decent collection, though still on the small side. Anyway, I have a quick question.
I picked up copies of Panzer Dragoon 1, 2 and Saga the other day (super cheap too) and the cases for 2 and Saga aren't in the best of condition. Basically, the lid for 2 has its hinges broken so the top lid is just sitting on the case while Saga has a huge crack down the center of the lid which makes it open in two separate pieces basically. I'm wanting to take the lids off and replace them with lids from other Saturn cases. Is this possible? Can I do it without breaking the hinges? Or is there an easier way to get a better case? Thanks!

Re: Sega Saturn Case Replacement Question
Yes, open the case flat on a table. The bump on the bottom of the tab will be slightly poking up above the grey flat spot on the tray. While carefully holding the lid down on the table, very carefully push that out while lifting the whole back part and tray up. Once you get it out of the pivot hole, you can stop pressing on the tab slide that end of the bottom out. It's just like the way CD cases go, just with smaller tabs. Once you have it apart, you'll see the groove to help put it back together. You'd put one pivot in the hole for one side, then slide the other post in the groove until it pops in the hole.

Any idea if there are any Youtube videos or anything on how to do it? I'm not the best at this kind of thing and I really don't want to break the good lids I have you know? Let me know

Just practice with some CD cases first if you're worried.

Or practice on the ones that are already broken, it's not hard at all, Hobie laid it out pretty nicely.

Yeah, it really is just like a CD case, only bigger.
Consider printing up some Saturn cover project covers and using DVD cases for regular use storage and keep the originals all boxed up.

Re: Sega Saturn Case Replacement Question
I've done it at least 100 x's & never broken one myself.
Keep in mind the hinges/pins are a different size than Sega CD cases (in the vast majority of cases).
Buy some cheap SS sports titles in good cases, swap the lids out.

Re: Sega Saturn Case Replacement Question
Okay, so here's the purchase that I made (mind you I still can't believe this happened). I bought the following games: Panzer Dragoon 1, 2 and Saga, along with Virtua Fighter 2 for the Sega Saturn. Also, I bought Dragon Warrior 3 complete in box for the Gameboy Color along with Final Fantasy Tactics complete in box for the Gameboy Advance. I also bought 9 PS2 games, all complete in their cases. These games are as follow: Xenosaga Episode 2, Rogue Galaxy (unopened), La Pucelle Tactics, Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter, Way of the Samurai (Unopened), Dark Cloud 2, Valkyrie Profile 2 (unopened), Tsugunai Atonement, and Suikoden Tactics (unopened). All in all, I paid a total of 67 dollars, for 630+ dollars worth of games
