What odd facts do you know about a game series?

Post by darsparx »

Ok I know it sounds odd but after getting in the discussion on youtube about Hikaru Utada being the artist for Kingdom hearts games and whether or not you should know facts like that, I felt like it would be nice to hear what other facts you guys know about games or series that you play?

For example: kingdom hearts not only spawned out of a square and disney exec meeting in a elevator but also because nomura wanted to make a mario 64 type game of his own. (if you don't believe that one just kinda compare how the worlds work even if the world selection of the first game turns it partially into a on-rails shooter as you go from world to world...)

(plus I have to admit finding out these facts are interesting to read  )

Resident Evil 3 was actually meant to be a side story & Code Veronica is the true RE3. Capcom had to make Nemesis a "numbered" title due to a deal with Sony.

Learned this yesterday... Princess Zelda was named after F Scott Fitzgerald's (author of Great Gatsby) wife.

Link's design took inspiration from Peter Pan according to Miyamoto. Think about the other similarities as well: playing flutes, fighting shadows, & fairies.

I think most people know these but:

Dragon Quest is so popular in Japan that the government asked Enix not to release installments on weekdays because too many people were skipping school and work to buy the new game.

Final Fantasy was the last game Square expected to be able to make. They were going bankrupt and FF was to be their swan song, hence the name Final Fantasy.

Dan from Street Fighter is a slight to Fatal Fury creator SNK. Hence the reason he wears pink and is super weak compared to other fighters. Dan is an amalgamation of a few SNK characters. Dan is a retaliation poke at SNK after SNK released Art of Fighting with characters resembling SF characters.

1.) Ha ha, now that's a funny fact
2.) Yeah anyone who's done research on square knows that one but it is interesting to see again.

Kevin Conroy does the voice of Batman in all of the Arkham games and The Animated Series except Arkham: Origins. He is replaced by Roger C. Smith, the voice of Ezio in Assassin's Creed.

Or at school...(since i'm still in college for a few more weeks for until summer break) but that site to the best of my knowledge doesn't cover everything I've heard or even seen posted in this topic so far

i still don't get why they made that change. Kevin Conroy's voice and Batman are synonymous to me.

Banjo-Kazooie was originally going to be a Super Nintendo game with Donkey Kong Country-style pre-rendered graphics, and would star a kid named Edison getting into trouble with pirates.
Journey to Silius was originally going to be a Terminator game, but Sunsoft lost the rights halfway through development, so they had to quickly change some of the graphics and the story in order to not get sued.
