I always had fun going to Finn and layering blink all over the party, then leaving it as auto battle till I killed the soldier.BoneSnapDeez wrote:The way I see it FFII has the same amount of grinding as any other old RPG... You just have to grind "strategically."![]()
And yeah, I have beaten the Famicom version of FFIII. Still need to try it on DS. I heard it's just as hard as the original.

Hahaha, this actually sounds like quite a bit of fun xDMrPopo wrote: I always had fun going to Finn and layering blink all over the party, then leaving it as auto battle till I killed the soldier.
Final Fantasy IX is the best one
Re: RPG Progress Report
Playing on your GBA/PSP you can be watching a movie/TV show/playing another RPG on your TV and then just look at the screen every once in a while to make sure he didn't kill one of your guys (the bow attack is weak but can get through massive blink shields) and to see if the battle ended.catnip wrote:Hahaha, this actually sounds like quite a bit of fun xDMrPopo wrote: I always had fun going to Finn and layering blink all over the party, then leaving it as auto battle till I killed the soldier.

In the mines of Ys: The Vanished Omens (SMS).
The bat boss is coming soon.
The amount of level grinding required to complete this port of the game is downright offensive. We've really been spoiled by all the remakes of Ys - the original 8-bit versions are pretty rough around the edges.

What were you expecting? Gaming didn't have much in the ways that we have now that makes it easier sometimesBoneSnapDeez wrote: The amount of level grinding required to complete this port of the game is downright offensive. Chapter 18 of Fire Emblem Awakening.
Just stayed up until 1:30a on a week night, no regrets. Tonight I: knocked out a chapter, grinded in 3 Risen battles, stocked up my inventory, had a relationship reach S/marriage, & beat 3 paralouges. Back to the main story chapters tom. Want to reach 20 or 21.
Not minding drawing this great game out rather than powering through it. My backlog says different LOL

Re: RPG Progress Report
I remember on the SMS version of Ys 1 I had to level up to about level 5 (when 10 was the maximum) to do damage to the first boss. It took about 3200 exp, with 4 being the most any enemy available would give, and only 3 could spawn on each screen at max. It took hours.BoneSnapDeez wrote:oh this isn't unexpected, I've played the game about 1000000 times. Just commenting on it.
The rest of the game required no grinding whatsoever. Bloody weird pacing.

I found that the quickest way to grind in that area is to pop in and out of the palace repeatedly. There's an enemy that respawns right outside the door. It is pretty tedious no matter what you do.
I had to do a bunch of grinding later on too. See, I thought I was being clever by sneaking into the mines, avoiding the enemies, and snagging all the silver items before completing the palace. Well, it made the palace a breeze, but as a result I was just plowing through enemies as opposed to stopping and fighting them enough times to raise my levels. When I eventually got to the bat boss in the mines I was only level 8, you need to be 10 to do damage.
Oh and 10 is the level cap by the way. Yup, you're forced to reach that halfway through the game.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Plugging away at FFVII. On my way to the City of the Ancients with Bugenhagen. I think I'm coming up for the end of Disc 2, and from what I make out, if I avoid long sidequests like Chocobo breeding and Gold Saucer stuff, Disc 3 is pretty short too. Hoping to get this game finished this weekend.
Heres my team setup:
Cloud (level 49):
Cover, Counter Attack, MP+, HP+, HP+, Long Range, Double Cut, Restore + All, Elemental + Phoenix, Heal
Yuffie (level 50)
Steal + Added Cut, Added Effect + Hades, Enemy Skill, Manipulate, Restore + All, Revive, Deathblow, Morph + Steal as Well
Vincent (level 49)
Barrier + All, Time + All, Magic Plus, MP Plus, Luck Plus, Ultima, HP Absorb + Enemy Skill (not sure if this actually works...), Full Cure, Destruct, MP Turbo + Comet
