I try to fix stuff and what I can't fix I usually steal parts from before tossing it out

As well as other people's broken things. Sometimes I'm more successful than others.

Re: Do you fix your broken things?
I definitely try to fix stuff, but I don't have all the equipment necessary to fix every little thing.
In most cases, when something breaks, you just have to figure if it's worth the effort or not. If it takes 20 minutes to fix, and ends up costing nothing extra, then it might be worth it. But if it's like a LCD ribbon cable issue or something ... f-that, just get a new one. (Unless it's for learning, then it's worthwhile)

I had to go to my aunt's house the other day because she couldn't handle downloading a attachment from an email
Re: Do you fix your broken things?
^Welcome to my world, except my aunt is certifiably insane and probably one of the most hateful people alive (not to me, though). I just replaced a PSU in her PC the other day that got fried during one of the latest ice storms here, and she was amazed that you could actually do something like that. Oh well, at least she pays me.

So, I finally got all of the parts for my remote that I mentioned in the OP. Took all of literally 5 minutes to replace the parts and now my remote is as good as new. Even though it wasn't a hard repair, it still makes me feel accomplished and I saved a ton of money so now I can waste it on other stuff

Just fixed a "broken" Keurig last night for the second time. Different issue than last round but a quick fix. Its the platinum machine with the water reserve ($170) & I got it for free BC it didn't work lol. Feel free to give me more "broken" expensive items friends

Re: Do you fix your broken things?
That pic is the story of my life since having started learning computers about 7 years ago in high school. I don't mind helping, but some of them just don't get even googling I can't figure it all out. I know a good bit about computers, but I don't know everything :-\
The thing is though with "broken" things, especially since now I have a job, I try to repair it. But that thought process didn't go very far to fix my black gba sp 001. I started opening it up after receiving a screw driver for it and the speaker a few months ago, but I've not been able to get it put back together again. The l and r's I can't get put back in place and there was a square metal piece i assume was on the mother board, came off when opening it up. I guess one of these days i'll either fix it or replace it. Or even better yet see if I can get some help fixing it. I don't like leaving things of mine broken, it makes me mad at myself for breaking it in the first place, and sad that I don't have the know-how to fix it. Though one of these days I'll fix it, I'd rather not spend 40-50 to get a new one if this one should work. But right now unless my mom has thrown it away it's sitting on the dining room table in the pieces I wasn't able to piece back together until I can do so.
