isn't the first game unlockable on the Xbox game?
ah, that makes more sense now

Pretty sure the Xbox unlockable is just the PC game with no upgrades.

I feel like there's definitely something to be gained from playing the series in order, but the story in Orta is mostly derived from from Panzer Dragoon Saga, so if you're not committed to playing PDS, you might as well jump straight to Orta.

Zwei is definitely the best. Orta and the original have always tied for me. I love that series to death though. Both PD and PDZ have PC versions and as far as I'm aware PDZ is still available on GameFly for download. I'd still probably play them in order. The stories are only connected through world and theme and aren't that important anyway.

Edit: In the meantime enjoy the glorious soundtrack

Older. Not wiser.

I think they all have their qualities, but my vote is for Orta. That said, it's best played on an oXbox (or emulation) as it crashes after the third level cut-scene if played on 360. I thought it was a bit choppier on 360 as well. Might just be me.

I think Orta takes not just what was great about PD and Zwei but also adds the dragon-morphing stuff from Saga and makes for a really engaging shooter with excellent flow and challenge.

Contrary to what AJ said, I think having to juggle speed, form and attack strength leaves you with more options in combat and makes it feel less like the player is just highlighting enemies they want dead and hitting the button. It's proper depth, a system that once learnt will help the player overcome any obstacle the game throws his way. It's still very nice to look at as well.

I like Orta a lot, I just prefer the simplicity of the original.

Any have the specs for the PC? Would be cool to see what resolution it ran at.

Game was dang impressive for a launch title. SS games have AMAZING music

Does everyone experience this?

I don't have a original Xbox just 360.

I burnt Shenmue 2 for the Xbox and seemed to play fine. I would like to play Orta down the line on a 360 since I don't have an Xbox.

The back box specs say SVGA 256 color and the screens there are 640x480, so it was probably locked to that.

Zwei is my favorite as well. I think it has the perfect balance between the simplicity of the first PD and the complexity of Orta. You can't go wrong with any of them though.

Edit: I just re-read the OP. Buy a Saturn, an oXbox, and all the PD games. Problem solved. ;)

Does anyone else get a warm fuzzy feeling watching the PD1 title screen animation play?

Looked it up, and it's because I have the PAL version. NTSC is fine. Here's a handy, but not completely accurate list of Xbox to 360 compatibility. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xb ... h_Xbox_360

EDIT: Also, sorry AJ, I wasn't getting at you. I agree the original still has an unmatched charm.
