Yeah still don't get it. So many games have QTEs, combat etc. and that wikipedia article seems pretty ridiculous. Yakuza has zero relationship to Virtua Fighter besides the fact that Sega made it. The combat has no relationship to it.

How does Yakuza take elements from Jet Set Radio?

Like I said, Yakuza...fun game series. I enjoy it a lot, but I do not feel the a relationship to Shenmue in style, storytelling, mechanics etc.

Grumble grumble grumble I'm old and cranky today! :lol:

Yeah, and I never remember having to drive a fork lift, or look for sailors or air books out in Yakuza.

ugh, Yakuza is another beloved series for many varying reasons, i really hate seeing the two conflated because neither fanbase gains from it.

Maybe a quiet statement that Sega is making to put the final nail in the coffin of any possible rumors? I wouldn't blame them. It's obvious that they won't be making a sequel. This also seems like it could open the door for Yu Suzuki to pick up the franchise on his own terms, though. Perhaps it's just a clever parting gift for Mr Suzuki.

PlayStation 4 lead architect and Knack creator Mark Cerny and Shenmue series creator Yu Suzuki are talking strategy for Shenmue III at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

At least, that’s what GDC Events GM Meggan Scavio said after tweeting a picture of the pair.

“Mark Cerny & Yu Suzuki talking strategy for Shenmue III,” said Scavio. “For reals you guys.”

Yeah I wouldn't get my hopes up for another Shenmue.

Fine with me, really. The Yakuza series is practically Shenmue with all the tedium filtered out anyway.
