I have mention this on some other forums but I'd thought I bring it here as well.
But before I begin, My name is Adriel, I go by Klonoa13 on more forums and sites that I go to. c: It's nice to meet everyone here! Hope we can all get along! ^u^ I tried joining this forum before but it seems that the site was having some issues before.
But anyway onto a problem I'm still currently having.
As you guys may be aware, King of Fighters 96 has some graphical glitch ups when playing with the 4MB RAM Cartridge instead of the intended 1 MB RAM Cartridge.
And this is the issue I'm dealing with at the moment. I use an Action Replay 4M Plus Cartridge to play imports on my sega saturn as I do not have a Japanese Sega Saturn or a Region Free Modded Sega Saturn (though I'm considering doing the latter.) and unfortunately I'm getting the graphical glitch up for whatever reason as the Action Replay is giving it the 4MB RAM instead of the intended 1MB RAM (The Cart is suppose to include both 1MB RAM and 4MB RAM.)
I'm not sure if it's my cartridge or so, some people who used the same cartridge claim that they had no problem with the game when using this cartridge. So I have no idea what's going on here.
I should also point out that this is the first time I've ever tried out a Sega Saturn Game that required one of the RAM Cartridges. as I have had this cartridge for awhile now and this is the first time I actually tried out the RAM Feature of the Action Replay Cartridge.
is there a solution to this? or should I just go and mod my Sega Saturn to be Region Free?

IIRC KoF requires a specific ROM, not RAM, cart.
Game data is actually on the cart.

Actually it's KoF '95 that has the ROM cart.Jagosaurus wrote:IIRC KoF requires a specific ROM, not RAM, cart.

I have encountered a few games that will suffer graphic corruption when using an AR cart.

It's KOF95 that has the ROM Cart, KOF 96 and 97 uses the 1MB RAM Cart.Jagosaurus wrote:IIRC KoF requires a specific ROM, not RAM, cart.

I've have heard that as well, but then I hear people who also used Action Replay Carts that they didn't experience this same graphical glitch problem for the games that required a 1MB Cart, mostly the SNK games.foxhound1022 wrote:Actually it's KoF '95 that has the ROM cart.Jagosaurus wrote:IIRC KoF requires a specific ROM, not RAM, cart.

I wonder is your Action Replay the older one with the port on top?

No, It's the one without the Port on top. I can provide a picture if necessary.

I don't have experience with it myself, but this chart says it should be bueno with pretty much any cart.

The original release of Souky will give you some of the unfinished English as garbage when played on a US system with an AR where as the Otokuyo release with the Battle Garegga demo does not.foxhound1022 wrote:I have encountered a few games that will suffer graphic corruption when using an AR cart.

The chart is just a Yes or a No though, it does not specify that Metal Slug runs like balls with a 4MB Capcom cart, the game runs so it says YES.Hobie-wan wrote:I don't have experience with it myself, but this chart says it should be bueno with pretty much any cart.
