Using PayPal In Stores - Brick & Mortar

Post by Jagosaurus »

Hey guys, I know some stores have the option to now pay with PayPal upon checkout. I'm referencing those that have a PayPal icon you pick, enter phone #, enter pin... not the PayPal credit card.

Well I know Dollar General has this option as I've seen it (yup, I'm DG classy :) ). Best Buy claims to accept paypal in stores but when I called my local store they said there is no PayPal option upon check out... odd, maybe this link is referring to PayPal credit/debit only?

Any1 use paypal inside best buy? Experience using it inside other brick & mortars using it?

Thanks in advance for the insight.

I was just about to mention Dollar General, as that's the only place I've seen it. No shame in tha DG.

I wanted something at GameStop (Injustice Battle Edition) but they don't take paypal (I only use money I make from games to buy games) so I went to Dollar General and used paypal to buy $50 in GS gift cards.
You have to sign up the cell# and pin via the paypal website before you can use it at a store. It was as simple as typing your phone number and pin.

I personally prefer to use cash in brick & mortar stores. That way I can easily keep myself within limits and find it a little reassuring that all of the money goes to the business, rather than some third party taking a cut.

But I can imagine using PayPal in stores could definitely make some things a lot more simple in some cases!

Nice workaround! I also keep my gaming funds separate.

Looks like best buy takes PayPal online but I couldn't do online purchase & in store pick up for the item I was hunting.

I guess I could look into the PayPal debit card but my acct isn't linked to my bank acct (I have an entire thread on this lol). I think that's required.

Thanks for the idea tbough man... I'll use the Dollar General to GameStop gift card trick.
