Best Horror Movies - 2000 and Later - Suggestions?

Post by Jagosaurus »

So I essentially spent the month of October at a desk & missed the normal month long lead up to Halloween. I'm going to make it up now & want to watch some good, more recent horror films. Can you guys recommend some from around 2000 to today?

Some of my favorites:
- Trick 'r Treat (this seems to be a horror movie celebrating the holiday & I dig the anthology/overlapping stories)

- Devil's Rejects (effed up but legit)

- Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003... Jessica Biel, nuff said)

- Stake Land (this one came out of nowhere for me!)

- Cry Wolf (yes, very "teen scream" but the use of technology & psychological aspects make it unique)

DVDs are getting really cheap & I'd like to buy about 10 more horror flicks to watch for my honorary Halloween :) & for future October gear ups towards the 31st. Just snagged the Rob Zombie Halloween 1 & 2 reboots on DVD for $5 total. They're on my to watch list.

Suggestions?

Alternately read through each year's month of horror thread (the ones that include movies): http://www.racketboy.com/forum/search.p ... mit=Search

Off the top of my head, and from a wide range of horror genres:

Ginger Snaps
Dead Snow
Cabin Fever
Dahmer
The Ring
High Tension
Saw
Dawn of the Dead (Remake)
The Descent
Wolf Creek
Black Christmas (Remake)
Cold Prey
The Hills Have Eyes (Remake)
August Underground's Mordum
Silent Hill
The Girl Next Door
Diary of the Dead
The Mist
Slither
The Strangers
Hatchet
Bubba Ho-Tep
Evil Dead (2013)

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I have some of these on DVD that I'd be willing to let go cheap. PM me if you're interested.

Ill give you the fact that Schreiber isn't a Peck. And its nowhere near as good as the original, but there have been worse remakes.

Some more that I enjoyed:

The Conjuring
The ABCs Of Death - its an anthology
and since you said you like Devil's Rejects, look into Rob Zombie's other films.

Will do Dave. I'll look over those.

LOL Noise, nothing scary about Miss Cutberth.

I've seen quarantine (Rec). It was pretty crazy lol. Also forgot to mention I like The Collector, need to see The Collection.

Ooh, forgot one: Satan's Little Helper. Great Halloween-themed gem by Jeff Lieberman of Blue Sunshine, Squirm, and Just Before Dawn fame.
