Is this Sony WEGA good for old school gaming?

Thinking about picking up this TV someone's selling for $25. http://www.mediacollege.com/equipment/s ... fs120.html It's a 32" Sony Wega with A/V and RGB hookups. Also has a FD Trinitron WEGA screen. The first system I'll be using for it is the Sega Genesis.

I've already viewed the tv and hooked up my sega to it for a quick test. It does display genesis graphics in color but i noticed some wavy like lines going through the display other than that it looked decent enough.

Anyway, just thought I'd post here and get others opinion on this specific model for retro games

I used to own the 29" version of this tv. It is a descent television for playing games. I would not recommend light gun games on that t.v. due to the flat screen (I could not play elemental gearbolt on it). There is no real bad viewing angle for the t.v.m but the larger sizes are rather heavy. The wavy lines are the fact that it is a h.d. crt tv so the picture is interlaced. I remember that it could display up to 1080i but not 1080p and it did not have hdmi. But it has been about five or six years ago when I last owned it. But I do remember that it was heavy.

I've posted comments about this TV several times. To make a long story shirt, I once owned two of them. They are probably the most common Sony CRT model out there. They fulfill all gaming needs and are good quality. I'd still be using one, but I upgraded to an FV310, which is one of the few standard definition sets superior to the FS120. I use it for my NES, SNES, and PSone.

Piggybacking this thread, how much of an upgrade is the wega line over the regular trintron flatscreen line, which i have. I know you get more input options but otherwise.

The main difference will be hours of usage. The original verticall flat trinitron tubes will be anywhere up to 10 years older than the Wegas. The FS120 Wega was still being produced in 2006. I owned two from 2005. Trintrons will usually be from around 1999-2001 and have significantly more usage when bought used. I find that many Wegas were only used a short time before being relegated to bedroom or basement due to an flat screen replacement.

Otherwise, Trinitrons can potentially be superior in image quality, since they require less adjustment to get a square image. In practice, I haven't found this to be true.

Trintrons are hard to find with component input, but are otherwise satisfactory. I might accept one for free, but if you are dedicated to finding the best TV, you can find a newer model for very cheap with matching stand.

While I'm no expert, a 4:3, non HD model will be the best for retro gaming.

My father-in-law had a HD 16:9 model & DVDs via component looked amazing.

That's the one. Not everyone lists model number in their ad, and some people even have trouble finding it when I ask. So, a photo can save a lot of time.

Yea, this is going to do wonders. No one on Craigslist lists model numbers and it is a pain to ask so many sellers.
