My truck is an '06 and has a quality factory deck with XM. I haven't bought a CD deck since probably 2004 lol, do they come with XM intergrated in now? I'd hate to lose that function (although I need to reactivate my subscription at the moment, nice to have the option).
Man... I had a crappy FM transmitter when MP3 players took off but I figured they had gotten better over time. Looks like not!

agree with this wholeheartedly. i have an iphone and i bought one of these once and it worked great, but now that my car streams bluetooth it's just so convenient that i can't imagine dealing with one of these things ever again.Frag Mortuus wrote:If you can swing it, you can buy an aftermarket car stereo that can add Bluetooth, USB, and an Aux port to your car for less than $100. After getting a car with Bluetooth, I can't imagine going back. It makes driving and talking safer and I can stream music from my phone to my car, which is great.

This may not give you top notch sound quality, but I would venture to say it will be at least as good as your factory system.
Not exactly what you wanted help with, but this would ultimately give you what you want.
in my experience, the FM transmitters are a sure-fire case of "you get what you pay for." if it's under $30, you're probably gonna have a bad time.

A lot of decks are "Sirius XM Ready." You have to buy a Sirius XM tuner, and it plugs into the deck. You can then use the deck to listen to Sirius or XM.Jagosaurus wrote:My truck is an '06 and has a quality factory deck with XM. Well, yes and no. I'm sure there's FM transmitters that work really great. But it's always only gonna be as good as FM can be.Jagosaurus wrote:Man... I had a crappy FM transmitter when MP3 players took off but I figured they had gotten better over time. Looks like not!

This would be a lot easier if your truck had a tape deck.
Have you looked if it supports USB? Some vehicles have Aux (which is just 3.5 mm jack) but they might also have USB support in addition, or instead.
