I'm a little disappointed with how much I need a guide for this game, but it's extremely fun and well done. Love it.
I played this for a year when it came out on N64 LOL! Beat it a few times. Picked it up on 3DS, still had to FAQ a few things :D.

I remember calling my buds to ask questions back in the day... I spent all of New Year's Eve night beating the Water Temple....eff that dungeon, ha!

After taking a month long break to play Pokémon, Ace Attorney, Pikmin 3, Deathsmiles, DoDonPachi and basically anything else that sounded more fun, I've finally forced myself back into some Final Fantasy VII.

I started just before Junon yesterday and played through to the Corel Prison just after visiting Gold Saucer for the first time (btw, the mini games there suck. I don't get why people love them at all - just like the main game really ).

My team is Cloud, Yuffie and Tifa right now, although I may swap out Tifa for Red XIII. I feel I need a good magic caster.

Clouds mainly a healer and tank. He's back row, long range, using cover to defend the others.

Yuffie is my all-rounder and thief. She's rocking a few healing spells along with a lot of skills like Steal, Enemy Skill, Manipulate and Sense.

Tifa is rocking nearly entirely attack spells.

I love FFVII to bits, but I never enjoyed the mini games.

I lost my save after a system restore last month. I felt released from the curse.

There are probably more games out there than one person could complete in a life time.

Why force yourself to play a game when you know you don't like it?

eh, like I've said before. I do like FF VII. But I also hate it, haha. So most likely - as I'm starting to see a pattern develop here - in another 5 years I'll feel like "oh I have to play it again. I think I'll enjoy it enough to finish it this time!" And then I'll enjoy it for a little while. And then I'll get so bored or annoyed that I just quit for five more years.

I honestly can't even really get much of a feel for most of the Final Fantasy VII reception online. A lot of the negative comments it's hard to tell if it's more of a reaction to the over-the-top hype the game had in its heyday or a genuine take on the game. I suppose most of the time it's a bit of both.

I like FFVII. I've beaten it a couple of times. Of course, I haven't played it in like 10 years or something, so maybe I need to approach it again sometime to see if I'm misremembering what I actually liked about it.

I kinda doubt I'll change my mind on it though.

I played 6 and 7 around the same time, loved both for what felt like similar reasons. Never quite understood why some say that 6 is "miles above" 7 or whatever. They'll always be very close games for me.

haha they feel completely different for me. FFVI is so much more streamlined, both in story and gameplay. FFVII is something of a slog. In fact, I believe VII took me 30 more hours to complete than VI did!

I would rank VI miles above VII. Better battle system, magic system, music, story, characters, art style... Just a vastly superior game in every way.

Yeah 7 never felt like a slog to me. Neither did 6 really.

Ah okay, that makes much more sense. I've been doing this with Earthbound for years.

How on EARTH did VII take you 30 more hours than VI!? VII is a 40-45 hour game!

Even though VII was my first, I agree that VI is a superior game. If it had been 3D, I think it would be the game everyone would rant and rave about. I'm quite glad it isn't 3D of course though.

Still, VII is a fine game. Not the best, but it does what it does well.
