Why are so many people naive enough to view Romeo and Juliet as some type of deep love story, when in reality it is a mockery of love and the havoc it can cause?
Why are so few people willing to recognize the many sex references and jokes in a lot of literature? I never realized so many of them until I got used to sex being in everything, and now that I have it makes so much more sense.
Why can't I find a pair of pants or a shirt that fits correctly?

I miss that sound... all the demos running at once. There is a pizza place nearby with 4-5 cabs and it sort brings back that feeling.Ack wrote:Does anyone else enjoy the simple pleasure of letting a video game run its splash screen behind them as they peruse this forum? There's something almost soothing about it, like if one were back in the arcade, enjoying the sounds of numerous machines running their demos.

Not a demo screen, but I love this loop.

It's not quite a mockery of all love, but rather a mockery of dumb teenager love. The kind where you have two hairs on your chest and think life is going to stay this way forever.Forlorn Drifter wrote:Why are so many people naive enough to view Romeo and Juliet as some type of deep love story, when in reality it is a mockery of love and the havoc it can cause?

I always thought R&J as a reminder to "Listen to your Mother and Father, or you'll wind up dead" and also provides a reminder that servants are usually smarter than the people they serve, both statements Shakes made over and over again in about every play he wrote.MrPopo wrote:It's not quite a mockery of all love, but rather a mockery of dumb teenager love. It might just be specifically pointed at teenage love, but to an extent I think it can be applied to the majority of cases of love. Either way, its ironic that so many people see it as a love story when it really isn't.
I was having a discussion today trying to figure out- at what Blood Alcohol level do you get the spins? This came up after a girl at school got drunk on halloween and came to school with the spins last week. I honestly don't know at what point that would be, and we were trying to figure it out.

Depends on weight, tolerance, and how any times you ride the teacups.Forlorn Drifter wrote: I was having a discussion today trying to figure out- at what Blood Alcohol level do you get the spins? I'm sure there are plenty college students who would be happy to be your labrats.

That isn't irony. What is fascinating is your continual assignment of your perceptions as the widely held beliefs of the masses.Forlorn Drifter wrote:It might just be specifically pointed at teenage love, but to an extent I think it can be applied to the majority of cases of love. A trivial complaint: Today's "Hipsters" ruined the word "Hipster".
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Rome and Juliet is about love, and is a love story. It is also other things.
