I know Lucienne's Quest is the sought after 3DO RPG but how is Guardian War? Looks fun from footage I've seen & nice music. Anyone play it?
Also, guessing AD&D Slayer is pretty standard FP RPG D&D?
Yup... named all 3 RPGs on the system.
Been wanting a 3DO for years but the timing has never been right when I run across one for a fair price.

I have it.
its okay. Its not bad, but at the same time not so good.
the graphics are what you expect from a 90's cd console. Saturn did better.
there is a female announcer when you're going to battle. to every battle, its not that annoying. But its meh.
The game is still playable. So its nice to own as a collector piece.
I'd say burn it on a cd and then decide if its something you want to own.

GET IT.
It rules. And it's not that expensive.
It's by Micro Cabin, my second-favorite JRPG developer of all time (after Falcom).
Micro Cabin was also the developer of Lucienne's Quest.
And not to be pedantic, but there are more than three 3DO RPGs. There's also DeathKeep (another D&D game) and a few Japanese exclusives.

Awesome good to know!
Bonez, isn't their a weird issue on the 3DO Japanese text not showing up on US consoles? Maybe that was only one game.

Yeah, the console is technically region-free but with certain games the Kanji isn't rendered properly.
The Japanese version of Lucienne's Quest (Sword & Sorcery) is one of them.

Yup Slayer has a sequel that from what I've gathered, is not as good as Slayer, and there are some Korean SRPGs.
This game is underwhelming (very simple, almost no plot, most people probably find the graphcis ugly, I think they're unique), but there's nothing horribly wrong with it. Not a reason to warrant buying a 3DO, but if you have one, it's worth the purchase imo.

My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Anyone here play Star Control 2? How does it rank against the PC version?
Re: Guardian War - 3DO RPG - Any Good?
It has voices and streamlines the planet screen a bit. The controller is easier to play the melee with than the keyboard. There are a few bugs that prevent critical story information from being revealed to the player (but if you know that info you can still act on it and continue the plot).Violent By Design wrote:Anyone here play Star Control 2? Or you can get the Ur-Quan Masters project, which is based on the 3DO code and has options that allow you to do a "best of" for the features of both the DOS version and the 3DO version.
