Yeah, I'm hoping they send my new copy in a box, but I'm not holding my breath. I love Amazon, and yes, their return policy is great. It was hassle free. I've dealt with their customer service once before and it was top notch.
I know that Amazon regularly ships such things in a bubble envelope, but that doesn't make it right. I've never had a problem like this with Amazon, or anything else for that matter, but I've just been lucky. I forget if I said before (and I'm too lazy to check) but a few years back I ordered about 3 Wii games from Amazon and one of them had slight case damage. Although it wasn't anything close to this, I was annoyed. It wasn't nearly bad enough for me to bother doing anything about it, but it's still very annoying. I'm buying stuff from a retailer, I expect it to come in undamaged. Even if the USPS were the ones who actually crushed it, Amazon should know that such things happen and ship it accordingly.
I feel like they should definitely use a box for such items. Me, personally, I
rarely ship something in just a bubble envelope. Even though I receive things in the mail all the time in one, I just don't trust using them myself. Unless it's for something that isn't in danger of being crushed, or I'll some times line it with cardboard so it's it's pretty much like a box at that point.
