What are you Currently Working on?

Post by Luke »

Self explanatory thread title.

Any new projects, school stuff, work related, or otherwise*?

October will be here before you know it, and I'm working on my annual sales budget. This is time consuming as you need to project yearly sales, and as the CFO always says "This isn't about calculating a truth, this is about setting a goal". Yet, her goals aren't realistic. This is something that is presented to the board (and now council) so you can't simply show previous sales growth from the past and show our average percentage increase from year to year. That would be too fun and easy.

Rather you have to keep in mind rising over head costs, rising cost of supplies, competitors budgets, and a few dozen other things. You also work backwards; spitball a number first, and then calculate if it is possible given promotions, discounts, etc.

For me it is still fun, but not easy.

*"I'm working on finishing this twelve pack" doesn't count.

I've been working on some software for a youth soccer club to manage their players and do some game analysis.

Hopefully, they buy it :|

@ Work: When it gets close to the end of Q3 in the for-profit corporate world, it's all about "initiatives" for the remainder of the FY to improve your EBITDA. I know month end close from here until 12/31 will be nuts.

Collection wise: working on getting some hidden gems on the Genesis. I recently bought Castlevania SotN, over a decade late there, & will be working on that. Just recently broke my NES down: cleaned the motherboard connection to 72 pin & disabled the lockout chip. Working great now.

And most important: Luke I'm working on a beer right now as well lol.

Moving! Getting rid of stuff I don't want; sorting the stuff I do. Also making sure all my school stuff is sorted. It's a bit stressful but I'm excited!

Do your higher ups say "Eee-bah-dah" or "Actual Earnings" (it's not 'actual' but I prefer that term)? And do your accounting dudes do that for you*?

You deserve a beer. Go nuts.

Mm, no project in particular these days.

Though a friend of mine is developing a couple of board games, and offered me a chance to provide some artwork for one. So I might work on making some samples for him and see what he thinks.

Well, in Texas most people say "Eb-i-duh" but I had some profs in college from the NE who said it like that and it was annoying, ha!

Well, hypothetically yes lol. We've had some turnover in our central accounting dept and the software system my department runs, accounting doesn't fully know how to operate so I end up doing way more accounting than I'm suppose to. I spent a few hours today working directly our CFO and explaining the number tied to our "improvement initiatives" because accounting couldn't scrub the data. Luckily, acct is hiring a new person and so are we. It'll make my life easier.

Dude, I hear Cali's test is actually pretty difficult due to the trollie cars and random traffic laws.

Any1 change a Sega CD internal batt? Hear it's a hooker. Might be my next project.
