Explain my ebay ratings - help

Post by Jagosaurus »

Okay, this has always bugged me that the numbers don't add up. Why doesn't the number next to my name/percentage read 135?

Positive feedback: 100%|Feedback score: 105
This is on my profile homepage and has a 105 with a star next to my name.

All feedback tab - 135 Feedback received
Buyer feedback - 123 Feedback received
Seller feedback - 12 Feedback received

Appreciate the help!

Huh, I never noticed that. I have 553 Feedback received and a 418 score. Not sure why there's a discrepancy.

Yeah, IIRC that happens when you buy multiple items from the same seller at the same time. So for example, if I purchase 5 of your auctions and you leave me 5 feedback it only counts as one feedback to the score that's displayed next to my username, but all 5 are tallied up toward my total feedback score.

If you bought multiple things from a seller and they leave feed back for more than 1 transaction, you still only get 1 unique feedback added to your score (by your name.) Their feedback will still show in your overall "feedback received" number.

Yeah Dave it's bugged me since I noticed last year.

Thanks Iggy & cook. Makes sense, I've done this several times hence the variance.

What they said. I think it used to be that you could only end up with + or - 1 from any other ebay member ever, but then it changed to where lumped auctions count as 1, or maybe there's some sort of day or week buffer before they'll count toward your main title again if you buy stuff spread out from a seller. This was so that you couldn't hold fake auctions and have your buddy keep giving you positive feedback as a noob to get to +50 or something and then start scamming people who were trusting you based off that 50.

It gets more ridiculous when you have favorite sellers. I have 1051 for 100%, but a total of 1409 feedback.
